This game has no social features; messages strangers you see is possible in basically every online game, and organizing groups in forums isn't a game activity.
The only way to be able to talk to anyone or access end-game content is to quit playing the game, get online, find several other people in forums (who are also not playing the game but, coincidentally, intend to soon), get back on your console of choice, add them to your friends list, invite them to a fireteam, and generally hope that you have enough people around to do whatever it is you want to do.
This isn't a particularly difficult process, but this is a leisure activity to begin with, and minor hindrances will make a significant difference for enough players that a lot of people won't bother with it, and will opt to play a different game or just ignore a lot of content this game has to offer.
This will lead to an initial slight decline in the playerbase as the laziest just ignore this minor hurdle and move on to other games, but the decline will accelerate as more and more people move on to other games, because it'll take more and more time (time where you're not even enjoying the game, since you're on forums) to organize groups to play with.
This doesn't sound like a social experience. There's a good chance I'm wrong about nearly every prediction here, but with a ridiculous dearth of any social aspects to this game combined with the social requirements&benefits, I can't say that I'm optimistic about this game's shelf life.

You know this companion app? It's designed so you can use it during and between game sessions by the way. Also they are thinking about adding in prox chat

Destiny isn't antisocial, it's just not as social as you were expecting. Bungie are kind of newbs to the RPG scene. Not only that, it's a relatively new genre for everyone and Bungie may have wanted more feedback instead of adding several ways of communication and letting beta players decide which ones don't belong. We all know how that has turned out. Think of all the nerd rage it would incite if Bungie decided to have certain communication features removed from the released product.

2 RespuestasYou can set your fireteam options to public which allows anyone passing by to join you if they're looking to. It's still a little cumbersome, but I understand the advantages of not forcing players to listen to chatter.
-
2 RespuestasIt will be more social after full release beta/alpha were 2/3 years old compared to the final build.

2 RespuestasCoz its a beta they testing the core systems

Autism is strong here.

1 RespuestaI agree. While using the forums as a tool to meet people to play the game with is a positive thing, it's also inconvenient. We should have a way to talk to people in game without having to minimize the game to type a message. When a random invites you to talk in a party out of the blue it's a gamble because you don't know who you may end up having the pleasure or displeasure of speaking to. If there was a way to text chat in game or if we had proximity chat the whole process would be made much simpler. It's not too much to ask for. When you're on a planet you're technically in a lobby with 11 other people, right? Everyone could have voice chat enabled and you could hear people as you get closer. You could have the option to mute individual people or change a setting to disable voice chats from the get-go if you don't want to be bothered. The tower could be limited to proximity text bubble chats. These kinds of features would make this game way more social and it would make connecting with others way more convenient.

Let's face it, the outer-net is hard
-
Nothing says ass backwards like promoting the social cooperative experience and then limiting it to 3 people. Lol in-game chat...

8 RespuestasIt is SO EASY to get people to join your fireteam. Push R3 on them and start on the Xboxes and PS3, or options on PS4. Brings up the option to check the player's profile(from which you can message the player), inspect their character, and JOIN/INVITE TO FIRETEAM.

No time to socialize. As a pristine warlock I have to find a way to craft armor for my 5 foot long dreads.
-
I feel like this game was quite the opposite, everyone in the tower would mess around and use the emotes, people would wave if you helped them on public events, and I got way too man fire team requests than I wanted, saying I just wanted to play with my friend. I feel like everyone socialized perfectly with the functions they where given, but that's just me.
-
The opposite actually, there making you be social instead of the game being social for you.
-
no proxy or zone chat what a failure can't believe they didn't add this lucky tho i have more than enough friends on but still a bummer almost no point in having a tower
-
Its because Bungie thinks that all gamers are 12 year olds who go home and play destiny for 8 hours. The nerve on these people makes me mad.
-
Because nobody wants to talk to you. :3
-
2 RespuestasDid everyone forget this was a beta? Bungie is looking into implement that sort of thing on release day or further down the line, they want people to make clans so I'm sure they'll have a few different ways to recruit other than on forums

Editado por ProwlyB: 7/30/2014 11:46:50 PMI too share some of your concern about the lack of social options in Destiny. However, it's reasonable to assume that the game will still be immensely popular even if it is a bit lacking in the social department on release day.
