I was expecting this big party at the tower today at 2pm with soccer balls and balloons and some nice message from Bungie thanking us for our input with some sort of emblem/ship as a reward. Instead, I go to the tower and it is completely barren. New doors are open but nobody is anywhere. I figure ok, maybe everyone got some memo that I didn't and are playing on the moon. I go to the moon and same thing. Then I try to join a crucible match and it can't find anyone. WTF?
I was disappointed at the whole preorder thing too. I'm not one of those that is like "I wanted to have something that no one else could have" but I was more irritated that I wasted months preparing and on the phone with Best Buy trying to explain to them what a beta was and that they were responsible for getting the codes to me. So it was just a waste of time for me and no I didn't really get to play it a week longer because I only have an xbox so I got to play it like a day before everyone else. Yipee. I'm not one of those that plays it all day every day anyways so it's not that big of an advantage to get "extra time" (some people need to get a life on here. Just because it's a beta doesn't mean you have to spend every waking hour on it.)
And yes, I am grateful that I got to play the game for free before it was released, but that's not my reasoning for doing it. My reasoning was to find out if I thought Destiny would be worth buying as well as upgrading to the new console. Otherwise I would have just watched youtube videos after the game came out so at the same time I'm not saying "i'm so grateful to have the opportunity" Every other game has Beta's too, they just choose not to make it a public marketing thing like Bungie , who realized they need all the advertising help they can get, starting a new franchise with Destiny and all.
In my opinion, the game gets boring really quick. Same enemies with health bars, you get better weapons, they magically get stronger to match you. You're basically doing the same thing over and over in a different location. Matchmaking isn't all that great and neither are the maps. If I even buy the game, I sure wont buy it full price new and it's definitely not making me rush into getting the new console. SURE THIS WAS ONLY A PORTION OF THE GAME, BUT WHY DO YOU THINK THEY ONLY NEED TO TEST A PORTION OF THE GAME? BECAUSE THE REST OF THE GAME IS BASED ON THE EXACT SAME STRUCTURE. It just gets redundant to me that's all.
Anyways, you can call that a rant, but it's really just my opinion. And that's something you can't take away from anyone. Until then, I'm still waiting for something truly revolutionary, not just a game that claims to be, and then comes out with something very similar to Borderlands 2 and other games that have come beforehand.
