I have reported this in the alpha test too, and unfortunately I need to report it on the beta too it seems... The delay between your hits registering and the damage being dealt is insane in Destiny's PvP. Like REALLY bad for an FPS. I have linked the youtube video of it happening. Yes it is from the alpha test, but it is the same in the beta, so I didn't bother to update the footage to beta test footage, because it is literally the same. Obviously it's the most noticeable on melee hits/kills, but you can see the delay on snipers, scout rifles really well too. What even is this tickrate? come on..
Please Bungie. You HAVE to fix the netcode before release, or this will be a disaster, seriously!
PS. Before anyone jumps the gun: no, it's not lag. I always triple check. I can play any other game without any kind of lag, both on PC and PS4, I have all ports forwarded, ect., nothing running that could be leaching bandwith.
And this isn't exclusive to just me obviously. Just read the comments under this thread, or check over on this reddit post http://www.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheGame/comments/28d7kj/what_the_hell_can_someone_please_explain/
Also, if it helps I live in the EU (still not sure if Destiny servers are located in the US or smth). And this only happens in PvP, so in the Crucible. Never happens in PvE.

1 RespuestaI've be LV 5 and beat a room of LV 20s, but the Fusion Rifles need a nerf with how you can one shot from stupid ranges

Editado por Caelos81: 8/16/2014 3:31:30 PMHmm I don't understand how netcodes work, but from my experience there was no lag at all. Pve, pvp all hits registered like usual. If yours isn't lag, then I don't know what to call it. Your video definitely looks like a lag issue. A lag issue specific to your connection to Bungie's servers.

Get better internet... 80% luck 20% skill.

2 RespuestasThanks for saying something, most morons jump on the you're an entitled xbox kid (whithout reading the damn post) nevermind that I'm a 30 year old just trying to inform bungie of a problem lol, can't wait for full game avoided playing pvp because of the net probs, so many people try to say lag but my internet is 3× broadband speed with no pack drops or anything but try saying this to an angry playstation fan boy talking shit for no good reason, but because you say you play on xbox you must be wrong lol
-
Played halo...not complaining here either
-
I don't wanna jinx it, but I believe they were testing net code on a peer to peer format system that they will utilize on a hybrid dedicated server system much like Titanfall has. Then again I don't work for Bungie, nor do I have any incite on how they are going to approach these issues. Just a theory from an experienced gamer.

I only noticed this when knifing but it defiantly is a problem

3 RespuestasLevelCapGaming had a video about this too with examples that are all too familiar: http://youtu.be/eMJq9aaDCJk?list=UUlMXf2oP5UiW_V4dwHxY0Mg Also lag is a problem. More specifically what appears to be a lag comp system that looks painfully similar to the Black Ops 2 lag comp system. That is bad because it continues the trend of helping people with crap internet to be 'even' with people who don't. This sounds good but the invariable result is the person with the good internet being penalized. Seriously, let people with bad internet get murdered by those with great internet. People who play online games should not be punished for ya know, getting a good set up to play online. Other than that, I am super excited for the game and can't wait to play the full release.
-
I experienced this issue a lot as well. One thing I've noticed though is that it only happens with melee and shotguns (like in the video). I really hope Bungie fixes that so the Destiny's net code doesn't turn into the next BF4
-
For me it was mostly good with times where it seemed the enemy or entire team were invincible. Definitely a few times where there was a major issue.
-
I didn't run into much lagging or hit delay because my internet is beast but I did run into a few people who had terrible internet! Instead of giving me the advantage cause the player is lagging everywhere, the player has a few extra seconds to murder you. So this must be fixed because lagging is beneficial not punishable. And that's scary someone who can perfect the amount of lag can win every exchange online through lag switching! Please fix this.
-
hahaha dude that's more of your internet connection.
-
Agreed!

Editado por SweetTRIX: 7/31/2014 8:53:53 AMBefore discounting lag as a player in this issue, remember that it isn't just your connection that matters in a PvP, or even PvE environment. There most likely is some work to be done, being as this was a beta (kind of the point) but you cannot simply write lag off, as stuff like this has happened on occasion in every FPS I have ever plaid since XBL became a "thing".
-
I did experience this. But it was never as extreme as in the video. That just looks like lag. Does that person live near a McDonalds by chance?

2 RespuestasThere definitely is some lag like issues in the game - which is why we had the Beta. It wasn't as bad as BF4 (which I sold because it was terrible for Lag issues) or Halo 4 (which was terrible for Co-Op or PvP matches because of it's terrible methodology in picking a host). But it was certainly a major detractor for PvP. I have been shot through walls in PvP on multiple occasions. I have emptied my automatic rifle into an opponent in PvP with them taking no damage and me dying with a single shot of a automatic rifle. I have seen team players disappear in front of me and then re-appear seconds later - them telling me they are still there as far as there perspective went. The two worst things I encountered was when an opponent walked up to a door three times in a row (like a loop) before showing up the 4th time and killing me. I had emptied my gun into the 3 "ghosts" the first times and was reloading. The second worst was when I used my Titan Super on 2 opponents, they killed me after it completed and then 2 seconds later I saw them get vaporized in the Super Kill animation. I've also seen lag like spikes (game slows to a crawl) when playing in Free mode too. And the people I was playing with with experienced the same thing - even though they were from all over the USA and Canada. That would tend to rule out it being a local "me" issue and more a "server puked" situation. From what I can determine, it seemed to occur at peak usage times - like during Iron Banner matches and possibly could just be that there are not enough servers for the load. And some Maps (like Mars and Rusted Lands on earth) seemed to have more lag than Venus or the Moon maps for PvP. For comparison sake. I'm on Xbox 360, physically about 500 miles from Bungies headquarters, my connection is DSL, 50 megabits per second (mbps) down, 11 mbps up, 20 ms ping times to ISP server and usually less than 100 ms ping times across North America (measured via SpeedtTest.net). Other games I play like GTA 4, GTA 5, COD BLOPS II, Halo 3, Halo Anniversary, Halo 3 ODST, Halo Reach, Battle Block Theater, Sonic etc.) don't have these sorts of issues. And I will still be buying Destiny - warts and all - because the Story and Environment is going to be amazing.
-
Totally agree with the OP. The lag is crippling in this game and I won't be purchasing the game until I it is proven to me that it is fixed. Too many other good and functional games out there to waste money on a broken product.
-
Editado por MrLeprechaun: 7/28/2014 9:46:35 PMYou just summed up my entire PvP experience. Really hope they address this thoroughly in the game before launch as well as the lag. I did experience quite a bit(even though I mostly played PvE because my PvP experience sucked) at peak playing times and was kicked off the servers quite a few times(more than any of my friends for some reason)
-
Fingers crossed Bugnie will fix this serious issue with the game's PvP.
-
I agree with this. I wouldn't mind dying if I was sure the other person was better, but to die to postmortems so much is just frustrating.
-
At times I felt that I was being hit before making into a passageway or entrance. There does feel like there were times when action was not in sync with visual representation. Hopefully a plethora of servers to load balance traffic is all that was missing.
-
It's especially annoying when you waste two golden gun shots on a player you hit the first time.
-
Not sure about Alpha but it was happening in beta on my ps3. Not very often but it did happen. I'm South East of UK and have a more than capable broadband speed.
-
We all got to remember this is what we beta testers are here for to help them improve and I got to admit it was a frikin nightmare I litterally would have to knife a titan like 3 times as a hunter it was stupid even from the back. Also what the hell are pl saying with hunters being op. Thats utter bull****** being a hunter takes skill since its the most balanced class and litterally we dont have much health unlike Titans who have frkn armor and strenght and this was threw my experiance idk about you all and warlocks lets just say their attacks are devastaring if you know how to use em. If your a Titan its a one hit mele kill and thats not op? Not to mention their special .... with warlocks its not that bad as their nova bom drains energy not a one hit kil but the mele is still powerfull we hunters get a throwing knife and golden gun which ads a bit of dammage boost but it still not much since it actually takes skill. So for all those who have complained pls stop its annoying.
-
Most of the time it was fine, but there were a handful when it was just a total nightmare. Hit's not registering making it seem like players were invincible. The net code definitely is not as solid as I would like it to be. My only fear is that there will be players that will figure out how to exploit it to their advantage, if they already haven't.

Never had a problem with lag or delay throughout my destiny experience.
