Any good theories as to what the Darkness actually is?

That hunter lady we've seen twice is the Darkness. She awaits you to reach high enough level and then she shall cast "Darkness Gun" and erase your sorry ass and you have to restart from lvl 1.

3 RespuestasI'm not sure what it could be, but I find it interesting that it nearly wiped out humanity, yet they treat it as though nobody was able to see it... They don't describe it at all, just saying general things like "all we know is it tried to stamp us out"

3 RespuestasProbably an entity similar to the traveler. Where the Traveler is a source of life and all that is good (in theory), the darkness is the opposite of that. It destroys what the Traveler builds, not out of malice or any definable goal, but simply because that is it's purpose, its reason for existence.

5 RespuestasWell, in the Darkness Within mission, the Ghost talks about the Darkness being closer than they might think if the Hive have broken their confinement on the moon, which makes me think that the Hive are somehow connected to it. Created by the Darkness maybe?...

The darkness is a lot of evil ghosts and the traveler was once there leader but all the little ghosts got angry and want to kill everything.

The Servitors in the beta are it's version of ghosts .They are sent to the enemy species to control them , manege them , and to collect they're souls to make a dark , zombie -like , and obedient versions of them (hence the concept art).Also it has it's own species it keeps close at heart (similar to the Traveler and humanity).They fly in triangle ships and use void weaponry . The reason we haven't seen them is because they stay near the Darkness (in the outer solar system) for protection and to claim most of what the darkness takes . Ether this or these species themselves are the Darkness .

1 RespuestaThe Darkness is the Polar opposite of the Traveller a name given to the embodiment of the light and creator of all life in the universe including Humanity. The Darkness is the absence of light, life and matter! A big black ball of anti matter! Think the unstoppable mass of evil hurtling towards earth in the Fifth Element and you get the picture and just like in that movie the Darkness needs its agents of destruction to pave its way just like Gary Oldman cept in Destiny its the Fallen, them green flood dudes and the Geth looking fellas!

2 RespuestasMy guess is shit from where the traveler came from, or other civilizations it's aided in the past... Aren't some enemies just humans that have been mutated or something? Maybe the darkness is everything trying to get its 'golden age' back
