He's talking about a different kind of knight you haven't yet encountered. They're significantly easier than the Black Knights you're struggling with.

Iv fought the little guys with the big sheids and capes. They aren't too bad but those black knights destroy me everytime

Try to take them down from a distance or wait until you're a little stronger. Parrying or backstabbing them is relatively easy, but I can see why it would be troublesome for a beginner.

They're easy honestly. Most attacks can make them stumble so be careful. Once they get to a low health, they'll try and heal. Attack them head on.
