To say I'm looking forward to Destiny would be one of the greatest understatements of all time. I'm absolutely freaking PUMPED for it. But there's just one...big...problem. For the past 20 years or so, virtually all games have been tailored for 4-player co-op. Not just in split-screen play, but also for online play. Because of this, me and my friends formed up into a group of 4 diehard gamers to share our gaming experiences with. For the last 14 or so years, we've shared all of our gaming experiences together, especially when it comes to big flagship titles (Halo, Gears of War, Borderlands, Left 4 Dead, the list goes on and on). We've shared joy, excitement, frustration, and satisfaction. Together, as 4, always.
So as news and videos and screenshots began to leak about Destiny, I giddily shared the tidbits of info with my friends, helping to build our shared anticipation as we awaited our chance to Become Legend together. As a unified group of 4, we would storm into Hellmouth and drive out the...wait, wait...what? WHAT?! THE MAX FIRETEAM SIZE IS THREE?!?!?!?!
This news was simply DEVASTATING for us. Why would they limit co-op groups to 3 when virtually all games for the last TWENTY YEARS had established an industry standard of 4?!?! And better yet, how are we supposed to eliminate ONE PERSON from our long-standing group of four friends?!?! "Sorry buddy, I know we've played like every game EVER together, but it looks like you're gonna' have to be the odd man out for the next TEN YEARS." Seriously Bungie, this is a MAJOR problem. I'm sure there are many people who grew up with online matchmaking or don't play with friends and haven't even given a second thought to this. But I'm equally sure that there are other steadfast groups of four who are finding themselves in the same impossible predicament that we are. For a game that Bungie is so loudly and actively touting as a "social experience", this seems wildly counterintuitive.
I know that there are game modes that will allow us to play together, such as skirmishes or patrols or raids. But that doesn't change the fact that we're going to have to shamefully oust one person from our group for the entire campaign and every single strike. It just feels WRONG, and I'm sure the unlucky person who gets ousted is going to feel almost as bad for being shunned as the other three will for having to shun their friend. This is just a terrible situation to find ourselves in, and it's one that I think Bungie is doing a terrible disservice to the community over. I'm sure there are reasons why Bungie wants to limit fireteams to three. Internal testing and game design and whatever else may have found that three is the optimal number, but the steadfast 14-year friendship I share with three of my best friends disagrees.
Please Bungie, make this right. Please.
EDIT: This post is over two months old. I assure you that "two teams of two", "just rotate", "just play by yourself", and any other brilliantly groundbreaking idea was not only already suggested, but already discussed between my friends and I before I ever even wrote this post. I wasn't looking for suggestions, I was pleading my case with Bungie.

1 Respuesta3-player Fireteam limit confirmed for Salvage and Skirmish which sound like amazing game modes! Why Bungie?! Why do you force our Fireteam of 4 to split up?!
-
I personally think it should be: 3 for strikes 3 for campaign 6 for raids 6for explore 6 for crucible As many as feasibly possible in Tower

1 RespuestaEditado por Nave139: 7/29/2014 7:46:01 AMI completely agree with your opinion but destinys approach to that is 1.warlock 2.titian 3.hunter (In no specific order) They want you to go with the feel of how they created the game! Also I have a similar team with my friends so we just split up and played the missions at the same time

PREACH. Dude i understand you 100%. Your post described my friends and mines feelings toward this long anticipated game/beta perfectly. We were also crushed and devastated on learning that you would have to limit ourselves to a three man fireteam and having to leave one friend out. Its not right. We decided on limiting it to teams of two so no one would be left out, but it just isnt the same, as it would be if we could all enjoy the game together as a team. I want this changed as much as you do man, as im sure our group of friends do too. This man speaks the truth. Please change this Bungie. This is affecting more than a few people.

I personally don't mind the 3 man fire team because it fits the classes but I definitely see why they should bump it up too 4 it doesn't fit but it would make a lot of people happy
-
i totally agree. they need a 4th player, its always been like that and thats how we love it. 4 player halo was some of the best times of my life. 3 feels like its missing something.
-
While I do agree that the 3 is an odd number, and that I believe that Explore mode should be bumped to a Fireteam size of 6 for fun, etc. (which more than likely won't happen), I personally think campaign and some other stuff should sort of stay 3 (one spot for each class as someone stated before me). Only makes a little bit of sense. But them again, I'm unbiased. I can go either way. I love playing with friends and having to choose two to play with of my (probably entire) friends list that will be getting Destiny on release day does sort of disappoint me in a way. But oh well. I'll suck it up and just go shoot stuff. Atleast The Crucible is open for 6. And the Raids only require you to find an extra 2 people instead of that pesky third wheel as well. Whatever Bungie does from here on in is on them and I'll go with it, cuz I like to shoot space invaders.

Maybe 1 Year from launch, they will release a DLC with a 4th character and then Raids and Strikes will encompass 4 players.... This is just the beginning. Keep an open mind. Good Post

4 RespuestasBe a man, let your 3 friends play together.

3 RespuestasYes, Bungie will change their game because 1 person complains that their 14 year friendship is at stake if the fire teams aren't upped to four players.
-
3 RespuestasAhhhhhhh yes everything should conform to the norm and all originality should be left in the dust. Kid just split into two groups of two that way no one will be left out and stop complaining about a video game being different and forging its own path.
-
Just have teams of two and alternate.
-
1 Respuesta14 years and you guys haven't made a couple more friends? Horse apples. Get over it.

Editado por KiwiFB: 5/30/2014 1:07:47 PMI hope you realize a fire team and a party/group are two different things. Yes you can only have a fire team for campaign and such. But raids and things are 6 players max. And I assume free roam will happily fit your 4 friends into one adventure.

26 RespuestasBungie failed to understand the dynamics of its fans ... plus the limits of its own engine to handle the increase in active units. But not the first time ... it would appear that bungie ignored the PC Port of their own Halo to PC environments when it claims "We made the game run without a mouse and keyboard. And now nobody plays shooters the way they used to play them before Halo ’cause nobody wants to" Before Halo ?!? ... did they fail to see the effort Gearbox put into Halo CE on the PC?!? (in fact better as it supported online play and local servers - something bungie never achieved) How about Halo 2 ??? Not a lot of hope in bungie listening :(
-
4 player minimum every one should make a their own 4 player Discussions ive made one my self. Does bungie even read this stuff?

2 RespuestasEditado por ArchAngel: 5/29/2014 2:13:37 PMJust have a fire team of 2 you and one friend and the other 2. Play the same missions at the same time. While using party chat. And also you can alternate teams so you don't have to pay with the same guy the whole time. And if you need 3 to beat a mission you can just let a random join or 3 of you play the mission and win then 2 of you can reply the mission with the other guy. Then just get back in teams of 2 and stay on party chat. You can always alternate who gets left out
-
I agree 100% with you. It's rather odd to cap off at 3. If Bungie spoke on this, I haven't seen it. What was the reason for 3 and not 4 player team support?
-
3 RespuestasYeah I've got a group of about 7 mates that are playing. Rarely ever will we be all on, but there's a few of us that are really active. But what happens when there's that even number? Someone gets left out and excluded, and that's practically bullying. If not being able to expand the fireteam size, at least allow something like a one man fireteam to tag along with a full fireteam into strikes and campaign etc., because it breaks all our hearts to see this happen :(
-
That seems strange that they only allow 3 people, I agree 100%

Editado por Piickleboyy: 6/2/2014 1:03:53 PMDeej needs to read this I agree 100% I have two friends I play with all the time and my brother plays with me and my two friends a lot
-
Uh you don't have to be in a fire team to play together.
-
I have the same problem bro.
-
Why don't you just split into 2 groups of two and find 2 extra people to fill in the extra space. I would imagine you could alternate group compositions so that you all have a chance to play with one another. You could still be chatting with each other while you all play in your respective parties.

3 RespuestasHey I just heard that raids take up to 6 players
