So I never knew people cared so much about the sound track of a game or who made it. To me what defines a game is the story, the gameplay itself, the graphics, how it functions, you know just the inner workings of the game. But I never really thought much about the soundtrack because I never really paid attention to it when I play games. Cause it's not what makes a great game it's everything else. Sure if it has cool sounds and music great but what I really want is baddass graphics, badass guns/armor, badass missions/enemy's to fight so generally just badass gameplay. I've played all the halo games and honesty it never dawned on me that a different person made the soundtrack. So for you guys that are butt hurt over Marty getting fired get over it already. Bungie will find somebody as good or better to make the soundtrack for up coming Destiny titles. And let's just be honest the least important part of a game is the sound I care about what the case looks like more than the freaking sound.
Ps. why would you cancel your preorder over this and not buy the game (i've read post of people saying they have). Even if you are mad about Marty being fired. Marty's work will still be used in the upcoming Destiny game. So don't be like it's not, so for you guys saying stuff like. I can't Handel 3 games with out Marty's soundtrack (last 2 halo releases and Destiny oh wait his sounds will be in Destiny) shut the he'll up and get over it already
If Marty never touched a bungie game you guys would still love the games they make. And if you like halo now you would still like it with or without Marty.
Stop crying a river lol

1 RespuestaEditado por Blorgish: 4/24/2014 2:54:10 AMThe music is remembered. When you first popped halo in and started playing what is the first thing that have you chills. That made you feel like you were playing history... We all may have differing opinions but that singing at the beginning of Halo set me off. I still remember that moment to this day.

Lol I agree. Mary's music will be in game, and probably will be the theme for the rest of the series. After he records a lot of music, is there really much else to do but move on to other projects? And if u buy destiny for music you already have enough problems...
-
1 RespuestaTbh in halo the one thing that brings me back to repeat and beat the halo games over and over and over is the music of halo once you hear that theme go off in your head its like a itch that i cant ignore because its so epic

5 RespuestasSo all those awards Marty won for his music did nothing to help with Halo's success. You're saying it was all the "badass graphics" and "badass armor" and all that other crap? Why do you think in almost every Halo game review Marty's music is acclaimed as some of the best in video game development? It's because it's important to the franchise. If you think graphics are all that matter in a game then you really need re-think some things.

2 RespuestasEditado por Toxic waffle: 4/19/2014 10:50:24 PMYou don't understand man, the music is what sets the mood, you can't have an amazing game without amazing music. I agree about the whole canceling preorder though, that is pretty silly.

2 RespuestasThis thread consists of: >Idiots who don't understand ambience. Go watch Star Wars with dubstep instead of its iconic orchestra. >Idiots who don't understand that Destiny won't sound like Halo. Talented composers can change their style completely. Go learn music composition you plebeians.

1 RespuestaOne of the most important things about ANY video game or movie is the MUSIC. Marty has made a lot of quality music throughout his time at Bungie. Music that I consider some of the best in the industry. His sudden departure is shocking. I do think people are overracting a little, though. People come and go in the Industry and Marty has been with Bungie for a long time. We don't know the details, but I hope they both left on mutual terms and wish him success wherever he ends up next.

2 RespuestasEditado por Fos Kuvol: 4/18/2014 9:21:39 PMTo be fair, Music was a HUGE part of what made Halo amazing for a lot of people. If Marty wasn't around, that music never would have been made. And sound and music has a MUCH larger impact on the experience of a game than you seem to think. That's even for you personally, subconciously if you play Halo with the volume muted completely and a really lame song playing on your Laptop, you will enjoy the game infinitely less than you do with Marty's music. Marty was also in charge of the amazing voice acting that drove the story, he's the only reason Steve Downes is the voice of Master Chief in the Halo games. He was responsible for most of the sound effects too, so he's why the enemy Aliens sound awesome, and the various noises throughout the game only sound "Halo" because of him. The game would be radically different on several levels of immersion.

2 RespuestasIt's not whether or not Bungie is gonna find someone better for music. Martin O'Donnell has been with Bungie fans since the beginning. He is just as part of our hearts as Master Chief, maybe even more. Im sure most of those who have been fans of Bungie early on understand. Ya, some people might be going overboard a bit, but Martin is a huge part of what made Halo succeed.

It's just that he made good music. His music made the games better.

1 RespuestaWhat shit games do you play where the soundtrack isn't noticable?

1 RespuestaEditado por BannedLlama: 4/18/2014 9:02:35 AMWow you're retarded. Sound plays a huge part in games even if you don't realise it. Marty was the guy who found Steve Dawns to play as Master Chief and a lot of people love him for that. Dawns' voice fits the description and character for Master Chief which helps immerse the player into the game and many people consider Dawns as one of the best voice actors. Also listen to some his soundtracks on YouTube like In Amber Clad or Rue and Woe then you'll change your mind.

2 RespuestasSomeone else's words but there completely right
One phone call to any of the top film producers, and equally if not superior talented composer could be brought in on a moment's notice to score whatever game they needed done. I have no doubt in my mind, that Destiny's music scores and sound effects will be top notch, regardless of who finishes out the project... BNG's standards on this project have yet to not impress me. I'm no Halo fan. I'm quite pleased Destiny is NOT Halo in game play, mechanics, PvE, loot, experience system or even the PvP faction wars. From ground up - they have said, Destiny is not Halo. This is only echo'd by the fact that some of the music may be done by someone else. So, it doesn't bother me in the slightest. If Destiny feels and sounds more and more like its own intellectual property and less and less like Halo X of old, I'm all for it. BNG is a business with a Board of directors. They made a financial / business decision. So be it. If they wanted 'our' opinions, they would have asked or we would be sitting on the board. Marty, with his resume', will do fine. I wish him well. I'm sure he and 343 / MS will be in talks soon if they haven't spoken already. Destiny is not Halo, nor has it ever pretended to be. BNG 2014 is not BNG 2004. Though we have said goodbye to Joe and Marty, we welcome DeeJ, 500 Develepors (not to mention Paul McCartney) to BNJ on the Destiny project with open arms. Halo will live on under another banner, so will Marty with another company. More importantly, the Destiny Beta soon approaches and we are less than 5 months from launch. The business world does make business decisions. Life goes on. Now everyone put your big boy / girl pants on and move along folks, nothing to see here...
9 RespuestasOh cool, story matters to you? Perhaps you'd like to know that one of Destiny's lead writers, Joe Staten, also left Bungie within the past few months.
