Glad I didn't preorder. Unless something changes Bungie isn't getting a dime from me.

I've been contemplating posting this question since yesterday as I know I'm more than likely to get lynched for it, but... Were you ever intending to purchase Destiny in the first place? (Before I elaborate on my question I'd first like to inform you that I'm not singling you out, but I'd much rather ask this question of someone I know of and maybe get responses from others as well rather than make a thread about it and get flammed so hard that a nuclear bunker wouldn't save me...) Anyway, my point being is that, if you aren't going to purchase the game (or even have interest in it for that matter as so many oldfriends of the Flood have so graciously expressed) that Mr. O'Donnell was making music for, why are so many of you up in arms about it? It would be like me being pissed off that Kirk Hammett is being fired from Metallica before a new albums release even though I didn't have interest in buying said album and maybe went as far as to talk shit about it. I mean no offense by this question to you or anyone else who may read it, I just don't understand is all.

  • I don't preorder games out of principle. Indeed I WAS intending to buy this game.

  • I was intending to get Destiny, but I'm sitting on the original model of the Xbox 360 and no Xbox LIVE at the moment (being a poor college student sucks). I'm waiting to upgrade to either the One or a new model of the 360 before I got Destiny. And this isn't really about Destiny, honestly. I'm incredibly excited for the game. I'm calling for a boycott because I want to know the truth, and since Bungie isn't giving it to us straight, I'm sticking it to them where it will hurt the board of directors most. The sales. Now that the news has gone viral to the point of being top news on Facebook, Bungie will most likely have to reveal some form of the truth just to regain control of the situation. Once that occurs, I will call off the boycott.

  •

If you really want to hurt them, cancel your existing preorder.
Oh no, the very small percentage of Destiny customers that not only happens to be active on this forum but also has been involved in the games and community enough to care about an employee's termination to the point that they won't get their #1 game are going to boycott the game and ruin Bungie by cancelling their pre-order. Hate to burst to your bubble but this isn't going to happen. Not enough people care. It's nice and this whole "seeking justice and the truth" thing is admirable and I applaud you for making the effort, but this isn't going anywhere. Bungie is not going to submit over a few dozen people not pre-ordering Destiny.

Then I'll call off the boycott.
You say this as if you hold any power.

Then I'll call off the boycott.
I sincerely doubt you have any control over a boycott that may or may not happen for Destiny. Even if you "called it off", if the community isn't satisfied, you won't stop it.
• Lots of people have acted on their own to cancel their preorders long before I called for it. I'm just trying to inspire people and pursue the truth. I'd hardly say I'm in control of anything, but I am carving out a space where people who want the truth can communicate among themselves and affirm each other. And if the community isn't satisfied with the reasons Bungie had for firing Marty, that's their prerogative. I just want the truth. It's being hidden from us and we're told to take that lying down? Bungie is basically saying "We're going to hide the truth and also if you could cough up $60 we'll give you a really cool toy and you won't have to worry about 'the truth' playing with your shiny toy." I can't guarantee that everything is going to return the way it was yesterday before this news broke. Some people are still gonna be pissed for Marty's sake and maintain their boycott out of loyalty to him. That's not me. I'm just looking for the truth, and when it does come out, I'll edit my post to reflect that I'm no longer organizing or supporting the boycott in pursuit of the truth.

  •
I'll edit my post to reflect that I'm no longer organizing or supporting the boycott in pursuit of the truth.
You've worded that much better now. The way you were saying it before made you sound very pretentious. Overall though, my original question still hasn't really been answered, but whatever.

  • You mean, why am I up in arms about why one of the creators of "the Bungie experience", who created the most epic music for 5 games over 10+ years, who is an icon in our culture, was fired nearly a week ago and just now Bungie's acknowledged it with a bland three-sentence "wish you well", that came as a response to Marty's revealing he had been fired by the board of directors? Bungie usually is a very honest organization. I'm upset because they weren't honest with us. The fact that they weren't honest when they published their goodbye means there's something bigger here that they aren't telling us. As fans and consumers, we ought to hold Bungie accountable. My call for a boycott is merely a vehicle to that end.

  • This is why I didn't bother asking this question... Just an over dramatic response is all I can expect when I'm trying to look at the situation objectively and without bias... Sorry I ever asked.

  • This never would have been a thing if Bungie and Marty both had been honest from the start.
