Now I know the video isn't about Destiny but it is about how games these days try to incorporate every damn feature under the sun. And this is something very noticeable on these forums.
Yes, I understand you're excited for this game Bungie is creating, as am I. But please, before you post your new "idea" for Destiny, just think about it and read your post for awhile. You just can't add things into the game and make them feel like they're genuinely supposed to be there. They have to be thought of while laying the foundation of the game so they can flow and improve every other feature/mechanic in the game.
This includes: Space flight or in-atmosphere flight, split-screen, player housing, wPvP; to name a few. None of these are bad ideas but that doesn't mean they fit in Destiny. There is a reason why Bungie hasn't mentioned these features, or has come out and said they will not be in the game.
So before you hit "Post", please let your idea sit for a little bit and really think it out and think about how it will effect the game positively and negatively.

i've speculated what i'd like in the game, but it's just that, speculation, no ones starting potitions or crashing Bungies doors demanding the fun speculation,in the absance of hard facts, be added right this instance. These forums are for brainstorming and fun if bungie takes an idea we have and puts it in great if not he its fun to imagine lol

7 RespuestasI love Level Cap a lot, and value his opinion on games more than many critics. I don't really think Destiny is a bloated game, talking about the thread. I mean, it's a stretch, but I believe it's within the capability of Bungie to complete, and do so very well.

1 RespuestaEditado por DEZARATH: 4/14/2014 4:22:35 PM41 million raised by crowd sourcing for Star Citizen on KickStarter. If not Bungie then some other studio will pull its head out of its ass for consoles and say "hey maybe gamers would like some space sims again" when designing a game based on space exploration with "oh I don't know"...actual space flight. Secondly it's a internet forum filled with fans, but on a whole for the entire year there has been more question posts on class, console, and why isn't on it on PC... over actual wish lists for space flight. Personally I don't know why people bitch about excited fans on these forums regarding anything from PVP to Cat Ears anymore. You would be better to castigate Twitter or Facebook users for their more direct access and impact on the developer instead. Lastly the video makes interesting points, all the while the commentator sits in a new boat used for BF4 mowing down other players while complaining about added features. One of those complaints of exceeded bloating being vehicular combat for gamers who like vehicle combat. I found that amusing.

3 RespuestasIt's a forum where people can express their ideas no matter how obscene, far fetched or imaginative they are. People are hyped, excited and want to have their own say. Its normal. With that being said, expression is fine but demanding it to be in the game is something that only Bungie can decide, and I trust Bungie. Their quality level is much higher than any other developer; they test, re-test, scrap it and redesign it, all in the name of balance. They listen to their community too and if the idea is good enough and befitting Destiny, it will make it in the game. Finally lets not worry about "bloating" as EA has done with Battlefield. EA rushes out their games as a publisher and they do not give the time to their developers to test and iron out all the bugs. Heck "balancing" a game or "fine tuning" would be low on their priority list. Post away lads, let the creativity flow, just don't be too crushed if it doesn't make it.

Oh lord... all those foolish posts... Thanks for the insight and stufs. Always good to re-knock some sense into my gong of a skull.

I can agree with every single thing said on this post.

Unfortunately, we will still probably always have people who won't be able to understand the developer vision of the game(s). These people will always be around crying about their brilliant ideas that "belong in the game because blah blah blah..." Good thing our generous hosts have provided us the tools to self-moderate.

11 RespuestasEditado por FairlySplendid: 4/15/2014 12:22:57 AMAgreed. I've said it before and I'll say it again, Destiny doesn't need to be the ALL things to ALL people to be successful. It doesn't need to be a video game version of an all-you-can-eat Asian mega-buffet. It just needs to be true to the developer's vision and have a dialed-in gameplay experience. Why isn't there (x) in the game? Why is there (y) instead of (z)? The answer is: Smarter people than ourselves with years of experience sat down and used countless resources (brainpower, manpower, research and development, $$$) to establish what works and what doesn't in the sandbox.

6 RespuestasIt's an interesting concept, to be sure. The examples you listed:
Space flight or in-atmosphere flight, split-screen, player housing
... Are not necessarily bad things even for Destiny. But I think the fact that people want to cram so much of that kind of stuff in might end up hurting Destiny if it were followed. Split screen is a concept the vast, vast majority of gamers don't even understand the cons to which is why we have such a demand for it. Player Housing is something Bungie has already addressed. In-atmosphere flight seems nonexistent from what we have seen and heard. Yet people still aren't satisfied. Ah well. What I think it comes down to is... the people at Bungie are professionals. Sure, like half the studio is new to Bungie- and many maybe even new to the industry- but they have our trusted Bungie Veterans to guide them, too. All in all we just need to trust that they know where the game should go. Despite how the community would have you believe Halo 2, 3, and Reach were all the worst games ever made when they came out, they've all proven to be long lasting and fun. Bungie makes games they want to play, right? They're just people, too. I'm sure they'll figure out what should and shouldn't be in their game.

I was reminded of this when I re listened to one of the podcasts. I can't recall who said it but they basically said that they will never sacrifice quality gameplay for "x" feature in the game. Bungie has always known what is necessary to make a game enjoyable and rewarding; they have been able to cut what they are unable to accomplish without sacrificing solid FPS interactions. They have also said that Halo players will feel right at home when they play Destiny, which is comforting as well. I believe they will move beyond what Halo was, but I also believe it will still feel punchy and awesome to shoot a gun in Destiny, and that's ultimately what I'm interested in. With that said, Bungie created some amazing Halo games with about 1/4 of the staff and significantly less resources (Grognok, Umbra, SpeedTree, etc), so I don't think it's outlandish to dream what other things they could bring to the FPS genre with all this man power and technology. We can dream!! :)

6 RespuestasI think long and hard before I post my ideas. I genuinely believe they belong in the game.

I agree, but I'd still like to see space combat in the next game after the plot escalates a bit and it fits into the plot a bit better.

Editado por Final Frontier09: 4/14/2014 9:27:03 PMI used to play a few games online and thankfully they had decent community members. A lot of the time people posted their ideas for a game, in this case it was Dead Frontier but almost always people throw out crazy ideas for weapons and other perks that it's just ridiculous, threads like this do help a bit though, we had a few similar to this one. A majority of the times the things posted were on a DNSL (do not suggest list)

A lot of people just get overly excited and start posting their ideas (I have done this =P ). Some of it is atrocious and some of it seems like it "could" be fun. But all in all I agree. If they add too much $h!t aka BLOAT, it will take away from the real meaning, theme, idea of the game. -cheers

11 RespuestasI can understand when you're coming from, but in regards to spaceship flight. that should've been a must. In a game wher you're constantly going from one planet/moon/ship to another, in a vast but enclosed area of space, in a customisable spaceship, manual flight and combat shoulda been obvious, especially after how well it worked in Halo reach. I just hope that they wont to give more time to over aspects of the game first, and then work on flight and include it after the game in one of the expansions.

5 RespuestasJust let people have some fun man. I get what you are going at with this.... but there is no obligation for us to respond or view these sort of threads. Let peoples imagination run wild with anticipation, after all once the game is out these type of threads will die down considerably...

3 RespuestasGood post man.

In all reality, someone is always going to be dissatisfied with the one thing that was not included within the game. I believe it is the same that way for every game, someone will want another feature or think, "Hey you know, it would have been soo cool if they had this, this, and this". Then they would continue playing and banish the thought. They will be hoping for more, but then will be contempt with what is given, provided that the game meets their expectations.

1 RespuestaOr while they are thinking about it they could decide," Maybe these questions have been asked far to many times?" Just a thought I had XD.
