What's the function of the Community forum?
I'll challenge you to give me an answer that is more detailed than "Hang out and talk about the Community." That's obvious.
Instead, list some of the topics and concepts that you expect to find when you visit this board?

To break it down, I expect any of the following when I visit this board: -Community Projects (Kickstarters/Feedback) -Current Bungie Events, Special Occasions -Hosting public game nights -Community news including Mail Sacks -Discussion of Code of Conduct and Terms of Use -A welcoming place for new blood. -Bad jokes As long as I've been a regular participant, you could even say that the Community board has been comprised of members that are seeking more from bungie.net than exclusively discussing Bungie's latest game. What ELSE comes with that? How can we (the community) give back to each other to keep user content flowing through our infrastructure? It's been the home to heated debates rules, contests, special occasions and joke threads. As for "Should recruitment threads go here", I'm indifferent. Right now, it's not a huge deal, but I do like that we have a centralized location where we can point members towards. Once we have a defined date for the Destiny Beta, there is no turning back and the hype train will be on a new level. I do feel we'll be looking at the other end of the spectrum when we're back in the active game phase forum structure, and seeking to have recruitment/clans as an exclusive forum.

Meta-discussion about the site mostly. Cool trips down memory lane, and stuff pertaining to the future of the site. That's just me, though. I joined this site quite a while back as a completely different person, so this is the only site on the web that means something to me... I guess. Haha.

I like to give my honest and respected opinion. Seeing important updates are nice. Seeing Destiny topics are getting annoying since it's repetitive. So topics like that. Then I can go goof around in Off-Topic so I don't ruin the rest of the forums haha.

When I browse this community forum I am expecting to see new members and old members forging alliances in preparation for taking back what was once ours. I have only 1 or 2 forum posts in this section of the forums. One of them was to promote awareness for the Group I created on this site for any PlayStation 3/4 Guardians who are members of social media sites(Twitter Facebook & Google plus). In less than 1 month I've had 14 other Guardians join the group PS Guardians of Legend. Always looking for more.

Learning how to be part of the community. Other boards can be just as entertaining (or not), but the types of stuff that come up here and how they develop could be a good model for how the community should/could collaborate, build stronger bonds and have fun together. I know it's obvious and has already been said repeatedly, but once the game lands, we'll have the stuff we need to make this board the most important.

Things like fan art, meet-ups, discussing community lore (who is ling ling?), welcome/introduction threads (though I would rather these not exist at all) I would actually hope not to see recruitment threads in #Community, but then maybe I'm using #Community as if it reads #TheSeventhColumn. I think the problem is with the hashtag system as a whole. The hashtags are basically pointless, unless you use one of the major categories. This incentivizes people to fit their threads into one of these silos even if it doesn't really belong, and somewhat dis-incentivizes adding additional tags. If we got rid of the silos, allowed people to choose which hashtags they wanted to see, and changed hashtags to have a somewhat hierarchical structure, it would allow for finer granularity in topics, in a meaningful and useful way.

The community forum can be a shoulder to cry on when you're a tidbit sad about a Bungie related topic and today, I'm a little sad. See above... Bungie Store being revamped, my order will have to wait... That's OK, I've been rated 10/10 on patience skills :)

It was a ghost town because there wasn't a demand for a huge, unsorted list of clans open for recruitment. Putting all clan advertisement in #Community is completely skipping over the situation that needs addressed. The only thing being accomplished is drowning out any discussion that would have normally taken place. Yes, I am an old school, crusty Community forum monger like the old days, and I am not a stranger to telling kids to get off my porch, but what I see here is an entire incongruity between mass clan advertisements and typical [i]About the community[/i] discussion. The question we [i]should[/i] be asking in this thread isn't "What's the community forum for?" but [u]"What is the best way to store, host, and advertise clans looking for members?"[/u] Not in a forum format, as history has shown has not worked, so lets start there.

Community Carnages. I love hoping on here and seeing one going on/getting ready to go on, they are always a lot of fun. The Mail Sack and the BWU. You should start up the Average Joes again. I know we have something similar but I really miss the old ways.

I usually look forward to the latest updates and people's speculation on the latest DeeJ hints and what they mean. But past the Destiny stuff it can be entertaining sometimes to see the random topics in the flood of off topic.

The Community Forum is the place for new members to stop by and say "hello" and maybe get some like minded people to reply with "welcome" and enjoy Bungie's games together. This forum can also be used for recruitment as well as individual extra-game events (such as raffles, puzzles, pictures, etc. that may be related to any of Bungie's games), which would differ from Guild events (since they would have their own forums to do these things in)..
