Why would it matter? Even if sexual orientation were a choice, there's nothing wrong with that.
-
I find it funny that it should even -blam!-ing matter. Maybe it's a choice. So -blam!-ing what? Why shouldn't I be free to choose it if I want?
-
I personally think we are a product of both Nurture and Nature. It doesnt seem like one or the other has a larger impact on who we are and to be quite honest I wouldn't even know where to begin to actually determine which has the larger impact. I am not denying that genetics dont play a part, but I dont fully agree that "I was born this way" is a fair statement in its entirety.
-
Breh listen to lady gaga, she'll explains it all.
-
Well, many of the gay people I know say that they've felt different since they were young. I think they're born that way but I'm not an expert, so I don't really know.

4 RespuestasIf gays are born gay, then serial killers are born serial killers, child molesters are born child molesters, and people who get sex changes were actually born the wrong sex i.e. women who is "trapped" in a mans body. I mean, it's in our blood right? It's heredity right?!?

1 RespuestaBeing gay isn't right, if your a Christian which most people here aren't. Am I right people?

3 Respuestasomg who the hell cares? as if whether or not it's a choice affects how people should be treated

Editado por SBTTLS: 4/2/2014 1:15:59 AMI don't feel like it's a choice, or something from birth. I feel like it's more of a realization. We aren't born sexual, we develop that later on in life. Sure, sometimes there are markers, traits, and behaviors that can be associated with one's sexuality early on in life. On the whole though, we never know what that really means until we develop more complex emotions and our own sexual behaviors. There are also genetic markers that can seen in sexual preferences (among many other preferences). I get that and I wholly except that as a well proven science. But science aside, I still believe it is a realization.

15 RespuestasHomosexuals are born that way. We don't just choose if we want to be gay or not. It's been proven that it's in our genes already, before we were born. That's like asking me, "Audia. Why don't you just be straight?"
-
Why do people even care if it's a choice? There not hurting you and it doesn't effect you so leave them alone.

If I had a dollar for every fuck I gave. I'd be grossly in debt.

31 RespuestasSociological/environmental factors.

Editado por JohnnyLovesYou: 4/1/2014 8:58:55 PMCombination of sociological/environmental and biotic factors. The aforementioned social factors typically coming from infancy and early childhood, with the biotic factors being things like testosterone and other hormonal levels. There is no 'gay' gene. There is absolutely no scientific evidence of such. Regardless, not a choice.
-
2 RespuestasWhile not proven it is highly suggested to be a genetic trait. My question is why does it matter?
-
Other: There are many factors that contribute to one's sexuality. They can be psychological, biological, or sociological. There are many other factors I haven't mentioned, but from what I can discern, the former three are the most influential. Homosexuality is something that requires a lot of research. We are not at the point of being able to understand it.

Woof! Woof! (OP is gay)

I don't believe anyone is ever born with any amount of attraction toward anything. I suppose it's possible, but I don't like to think so. I don't like the idea of a predetermined anything. I feel all of this is irrelevant. Whether or not they have chosen or were born that way: it is what it is. Who the -blam!- cares?

10 RespuestasI say choice due to one thing, I want there to be choice... Most people use this to say gays are bad but I don't. I want it to be a choice because I feel that humans should have a choice, that without choice and free will, life is pointless. I may be stubborn but I refuse to believe everything I do, want, and am was decided before I even took a breath, that my entire life is a pre-determined path that I can only veer off of but never, ever, leave... So for me it has less to do with gays and more to do with my value of free will.

I now have Lady Gaga stuck in my head. Thanks OP :D

The same way I like cheese but dislike marmite. I didn't choose to, it's just what tickles my fancy.

23 RespuestasI mean this in a purely scientific way with no malicious intent. If you're easily offended, don't read this. It seems to be a deficiency (again, purely scientific, as a species of gay animals will go extinct, as they cannot reproduce.) that comes from either their upbringing and/or genetics. However genetics is extremely unlikely as it cannot be passed down.
-
It can be both, people live life the way want to and no one should care about their private business. Live and let live.
