I believe I speak for a few people when I say that Halo is one of the few games where you see a Skybox or a Background and you stop and think or say. "Wow, that looks awesome."
I think the Halo series were ahead of their time in terms of Graphics. Reach especially and double for Halo 4. Mind you, these games were created 3 and 4 years ago. I go back on and play them and that level of quality is more or less equal to some of the newer titles we have just seen.
I'm not one to whine or praise Graphics. But the setting, and the sheer awesomeness of some of the Skyboxes in Halo make me just drop that mindset and just watch in wonder.
Special Praise to-
Forge World-Halo Reach

they were, but other games such as bf3 and crisis 2 made made them lose any lead they had
-
When it first came out it really wasn't anything to brag about. Nintendo was destroying the graphics war in the early 2000s but the later Halos definitely stepped it up. I still think Reach looks the best. For 2010 there's really nothing that can stand up to it.
-
I really surprised with halo 4s graphics considering its running on a "potato" from a PC perspective.

18 RespuestasEditado por James Hetfield: 3/3/2014 9:17:25 PMHalo 4's backgrounds and skyboxes look like they were drawn using the original Xbox engine. Halo 2's painted backgrounds and skyboxes look WAY better than Halo 4's. As a matter of fact, Halo 2's graphics still look great. They were way ahead of their time.
-
Speaking purely from a Halo CE perspective, yes; it rendered pretty awesome 3D worlds with minimal use of LoD techniques. The second level is a great example of this - most console shooters at the time had nothing like it.

1 RespuestaI think you're confusing graphics with art. Halo 2 graphics felt messy and eye straining to me even compared to Halo CE. And today the graphics are crap. But when I look up while standing upon High Charity I love what I see. Bungie has always had great art with the Halo series.

Editado por Ghost 0f Dawn: 3/5/2014 12:23:34 AMIt's not that they were ahead of their time. Bungie always utilized the graphical capabilities they had in a good way. It wasn't about cramming Polys and resolution into it, and that's why they did well. They were simply taking what they had, and said "How can we make this LOOK good?" Which is exactly why Halo 4 looks like shit. 343i just said "CRAM ALL THE POLYS!!" They had no regard on how well it actually looked.

1 RespuestaEditado por ch33zy burrito: 3/4/2014 8:50:30 PMFor CE? Certainly For current Halo? No, Halo 4 is a maybe but anything before that does not have revolutionary graphics.
-
Art style is aesthetically pleasing, but graphics were not nearly next gen or even top tier.
-
2 Respuestas"Great but not ahead of their time" That's the same option as no, please don't cater to Halo fanboys by putting a dick sucking option for Bungie.
-
3 RespuestasHalo 4 has excellent graphics technology but mediocre art style. Opinion of course.
-
CE and 2 were great, just compare with fable. 3 just had really good style, altough I was stunned by it at first
-
2 RespuestasH4 wasnt. That game had shit textures and effects but good lighting
-
Definitely not ahead of their time. But remember, there is a difference between "graphics" (resolution, textures, poly counts, frame rates, etc...) and art style. But if you're referring to the art style... Well i guess that's personal preference?
-
11 RespuestasThey sure are.
-
CE, 2 and 4 were all amazing for their times. 3 and Reach were okay.
-
Halo 3's "Halo" warthog run skybox was stunning. #neverforget
-
I was actually heavily debating putting that option there. I just decided to do so for the hell of it. I'm one to options other then yes or no on a poll so this is a new move for me.
-
Halo CE and 2 were amazing back when they came out, definitely among the best looking games out at their times. Reach destroyed every other game out in terms of skyboxes and Halo 4 in terms of art style and architectures.

38 Respuestas
and double for Halo 4.
Halo 4 doesn't even have good graphics. Just go back and just play the first the level and you'll see.
-
The graphics weren't amazing. The art is though
-
5 RespuestasThe graphics after 1,2 and 3 were average. But Halo CE was created in 2001, that is the same time as BomberMan for gods sakes! Halo 2 should have been delayed and launched on the 360, it deserved a better console, its graphics were great. Halo 3 is amazing, 7 years old and it is still 110% playable, the graphics are still good, they make CoD Ghosts look meagre
-
Halo CE was definitely ahead of its time, the rest, no.
-
I mean halo 4 had some poor textures.
-
Skyboxes? Isn't that the self computer generating weather?
