The rest of us plebians don't deserve a minimum wage increase and should either die in rat infested shit holes because we don't have the drive to better ourselves or go massively into debt for a "useless" degree and try to compete with thousands of other better qualified applicants, who were born with silver spoons in their mouths.

Implying raising the minimum wage helps a lot. If anything businesses just sat "hmm, there was a wage increase, let's price our products more since consumers have more to spend".
