I'm sure someone has already mentioned this, but I became concerned today when I went into my local GameStop. I go in to my local GameStop every so often, be it to pick-up, pre-order or ask follow-up questions. I pre-ordered Destiny as soon as it became available for pre-order. Everything that I had seen about the game left me feeling unimpressed by every other up coming game. A while back I remember it being mentioned that it might be pay to play and then I heard Bungie mention that was not going to be the case (that news made me very happy). Now again, I go into my local GS and I was asking "Has there been any mention to a Destiny collectors edition?" They stated "No, not yet. But have you heard that because Destiny is going to be cross-platform (if you buy the 360 version you can play with your friends on PS3, etc) that they are thinking of making it pay-to-play?" I instantly went into a panic. Honestly this is the only game that I am looking forward to, I have every intention of getting it for every console that I own. However, I DO NOT do pay-to-play! My friends got into WOW, I said Oh, that sounds fun. It has a monthly fee... Count me out. The new Star Wars MMO seemed enticing - also pay-to-play. Avoided that one. What I'm getting at here is that if Destiny becomes pay-to-play, I'm out. I would like for someone from Bungie to please debunk this rumor once and for all so that I can get back to my wild anticipation of Destiny. Because no matter how good a game looks or is and no matter how excited I am about it, if it goes pay-to-play, I'm out. I am perfectly fine with micro- transactions (I never take advantage of them, and it doesn't bother me if people prefer to - I will avoid them) but again, pay-to-play is a no fly zone for me as well as many others that I know. Any legit sources would be appreciated to help debunk this rumor. According to the GameStop staff member he said that this was mentioned post E3.
Thank you for your time! - Sorry if this is a repost, I couldn't find any others that matched.

3 RespuestasSorry, 3 feet OF Formica... Damn bartender did it to me again

I love how you listened to Bungie when they said it was not pay to play. Then you believe a stupid GS employee and think it is. Trust Bungie with stuff like this.

2 RespuestasEditado por Verios44: 11/10/2013 4:50:39 PMHeres your problem 1. You listen to GS employees 2. You listen to retarded GS employees 3. You listen to GS employees who know nothing about gaming 4. Uou listen to GS employees who just dong give 2 BAMS 5. Well you get the point by now PRO TIP - NEVER NEVER NEVER believe a word spoken by a GS employee.

Bungie, as well as Activision insists on not having a monthly fee.

6 RespuestasSony has stated that if a game is pay to play.then you'll have to have a PSN+ account to play otherwise its left up to the game developer but personally I would love destiny to be a pay to play for the simple fact that us advent veterain bungie fanatics would gladly pay to help advance, maintain, push development of their servers and game content distribution a plus in my book any day.

1 RespuestaAh yes, Gamestop employees...the "bartenders" of the gaming world, handing out shitty advice across 3 feet or Formica.
-
3 RespuestasExplaination: Most Gamestops just hire incompetent people gaming-wise. Examples: - "Gaming mouse? That's new to me!" - "No, we don't sell Nintendo DS touch pen" (he had it right behind him) - "Destiny? What is this?" - "Hey man, don't you know that game requires a powerful PC?" (Battlefield 3, which is untrue) - "No, Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon isn't sold as a standalone, not even in Digital Delivery" ... And I could go on

Editado por WILLtheKILLA5: 11/10/2013 2:13:00 AMChina wants their wall back. Lame jokes aside unless the information you get about Destiny is from Bungie it ain't nothing.

GameStop: kings of misinformation in gaming.
-
They will not be making a pay to play Destiny :) unless you count DLC as playing to play.

Destroy this shitty thread

Holy text wall Batman! Is your space key broken or something?

If it's not mention on this site then it's not true

That Gamestop employee obviously doesn't know what he's talking about, because Bungie has never confirmed cross-platform play, and they have said that there will not be pay to play, and therefore there won't be.
-
I have faith Bungie won't scumbag their fan base like that
-
#Destiny would love it to be pay to play because then they can give Bungie even more money.
-
3 Respuestas100% won't happen, Microsoft and Sony would never allow cross platform play between the 2! That gamestop employee was high

Assuming this isn't a troll thread here, for argument's sake, Bungie confirmed a long time ago that it wouldn't be a p2p game. Your local GS employee needs to learn his shit instead of spreading bad info. The only thing you'll have to pay for is PS+ for PS4 (multiplayer for PS3 is still going to be free of charge unless this has changed since I last checked) or XBL Gold for 360 and XB1. Rest assured, you won't have to pay anything for a monthly subscription to Bungie to play Destiny. Hope to see you out in the wild, future guardian!

6 RespuestasOP is either an ignorant, cheap fool or a bad troll To the fool I say get a job and join the big boys. Everyone says free to play is better, then the game sucks and they lose interest. While WoW has a small fee and they deliver a superior product and have more subs (even with their fluctuating sub rates). To the troll I say 2/10

26 RespuestasEditado por OdinsPride: 11/4/2013 2:41:12 AMYour cheap bro. Cheap is cheap. I know if you dont have the funds to spend on pay to play, than fine. Sorry for your lose. But pay to play helps keep the developers financially stable, so they can maintain servers, keeps the updates coming, funds the patching of glitches, feeds them on their lunch breaks and so forth. If your broke from bills than that is fine, but dont be a cheap jerk bag and refuse Pay To Play. If fact free to play is WORSE because everything worth having is payed for in cash in the store, and gives most buyes a HUGE advantage in PVP and PVE. __The developers need money to get shit done..

2 RespuestasFor one I don't believe GS told you any of that your a troll
Activision Publishing boss Eric Hirshberg calls Destiny a "shared world shooter". That sickly sweet term (that has no chance of sticking, by the way) has its heart in the right place; Destiny is a Bungie first-person shooter with shared world, i.e. MMO, elements, but god forbid you call it an MMO, because it most definitely is not, and it most definitely doesn't have a subscription.
See the linked article for the full interview.
