Weapon levels don't mean anything!
Watch the trailer this is a different one of them rehydrating the e3 demo and he shows you when he picks up the thunderlord he is a level 7 warlock and he shows you his level 35 combat armour and his level 70 guns and level 200 exotic thunderlord

The Thunderlord is more of a rare, endgame-type weapon you will not come across early on in Destiny by any means. Guns in Destiny advance with you through skill-trees. The choice is left in your hands as to how/when you upgrade a weapon.

It's a pre-alpha demo. How can you take any of that and assume it will be in the game? Its not like they're going to stand on stage at the Sony conference shown worldwide and play with low powered weapons and die off without showing the game? Come on now.
