The European Commission has indicated that new concessions offered by Google could end its long-running anti-trust investigation against the search giant.
Few details about the concessions were released, but they are believed to include measures to make it easier for web users to see results from Google's rivals.
The company was accused by rivals in 2010 of squeezing out competition.
If found guilty, Google faces huge fines.
"We have reached a key moment in this case. Now with significant improvements on the table, I think we have the possibility to work again," competition commissioner Joaquin Almunia told the European Parliament.
The deal would allow Google's competitors to display their own logos next to their services and take up more space on Google's result pages.
It would also allow websites greater control over what parts of their sites appear in Google's results.
So the EU has took on Microsoft and won, Valve and Won and is now about to win against Google.
Oh and telling Israel it can't have any funding from the EU unless it stops illegal expansion on the West Bank.
Who says the EU isn't a good thing, it's got the reputation of taking on the Giants and putting them in their place.
Google dominates search in Europe, accounting for 80% of the market.
EU regulators have been investigating Google's business practices since 2010, following complaints from more than a dozen companies, including Microsoft and price comparison site Foundem.
The commission's investigation centred on four areas:
the manner in which Google displays its own vertical search services compared with other, competing products
how Google copies content from other websites - such as restaurant reviews - to include within its own services
the exclusivity Google has to sell advertising around search terms people use
restrictions on advertisers from moving their online ad campaigns to rival search engines.

1 RespuestaSo Microsoft got buttmad that Bing didn't take off and now they're using lobbyists to try to get the EU to smack down a superior company.
-
What a horrible thing. I hope Google completely leaves that country so you pukes won't have it anymore.

5 RespuestasEditado por ABotelho: 10/2/2013 1:58:53 PMThey want to make sure more people use inferior products. Derp. Those 3 companies aren't nearly as powerful in the EU as they are in North America.

Leave Google alone. Just because they have the best Search Engine on the planet, "Google it" doesn't mean you can pick on them.
-
11 RespuestasExcept google doesn't have a monopoly over anything, it is a choice. Don't see how they will win unless the try to say something else.
-
2 RespuestasUnfortunately it can't force Google to do anything. Also are you unable to talk about anything other than Britain and EU?
-
5 RespuestasI don't understand. You don't HAVE to use Google. It has a monopoly over search engines in no way. And why didn't they attack Bing? It's the default engine for Internet Explorer, the default browser for Microsoft machines. And what happens when search "Google" with Bing? It gives you a pop-up presentation upon why you shouldn't use Google. Lobbyists, maybe?

7 Respuestas"Hurr durr merica maed a beter serch enjun tan us so wer gun kill it" If they want to reduce Google's usage in the EU, make something better that's worth using.

Truly although sad a monopoly must never be allowed. Who knows when google trades hands to a shitty owner. Anyway i am okay if they show rival searches and make it show where they are from as long it is not that bad to the eyes.

13 RespuestasWHAT THE FUCK KIND OF SHITTY LOGIC IS THIS? I use Google because I want to see fucking Google results. If I want to see what Bing will shit out of its big fat arsehole I will fucking use Bing. Is this really what the EU does with its fucking time? FUCK YOU VERY MUCH, CUNTS.
-
11 RespuestasYeah, it has the glorious reputation of taking on American corporations and a small Middle Eastern country and "putting them in their place". Congrats.

I am going to take the time out of my day to tell you that lonepaul is dum name

>Stealing people's money out of their accounts because of a study that was proven to be false

6 RespuestasI don't want to see google's rival's results. I want to see what I'm searching for in the top 3 results. Google delivers and most others don't.

6 RespuestasIf Google wasn't happy with the answer and stop providing all services in the eu region what would happen?
