Well at least hunting that isn't for Waterfowl.
California recently passed a lead ammo ban for hunting. Says it's killing California Condors (When there is no evidence to support that claim.) So they ban lead, and that's bad enough.
Well, it turns out that there is a requirement from years ago that requires all game hunters to use soft point or expanding ammunition. This is to make sure the kill is assured and there is no undue pain to the animal. Basically, the ammo has to make the kill as fast and efficient as possible.
Now, expanding and soft point ammo is made out of lead with a copper jacket. Since lead is now banned for hunting, there is effectively no more hunting in the state.
So yeah, aside from banning Hunting rifles, they banned hunting too. It's totally lulzy.

Use a bow, or a crossbow. Or go face to face with beast, as in the days of old.

I'm glad they're taking steps to preserve rare birds of prey like condors Honestly, I'm all for the right to bear arms and the second amendment, but I cannot bring myself to sympathise with hunters. I've always been an animal person.

1 RespuestaWhile I agree they should ban the lead, because of lead poisoning and what not. What they effectively did is just...wow

Don't care, hunts illegally. It's a pellet gun, lel.

1 RespuestaWat? Lead has to be ingested to be toxic. What are the odds of a condor eating a bullet? California, you so crazy.

3 RespuestasThere are a few options for hunting ammo that doesn't have lead, such the Barnes TSX series of ammunition. Even CCI makes .22 ammo that has no lead. While Kalifornia is as dumb as a bag of broken hammers, they didn't make hunting impossible.
-
9 Respuestasyou can get "green" ammo still... just less available, in less calibers, and with less expansion and for far more cost per round. the reason lead is used in projectile is that is has high density, expands greatly to impart energy, and is harmless/nonreactive. what'd be better than lead as an alternative? gold. but that'd be extremely economically unfeasible for any nation.

16 RespuestasI always like watching California do what they do. Anyway, isn't that state heavily agricultural? Don't farmers need to shoot animals to protect their crops and farm animals?

3 RespuestasI hunt with a bow so I am good. But how long before they tell me a bow is inhumane also.

California is a perfect of example of what strict gun control leads to.
