I just heard on QI that Ireland is a 3rd world country.
That is because the original definition is "A country that is not politically aligned with the USSR or USA.
So Ireland, how does it feel to be a 3rd world country?

7 RespuestasThat is outdated. Development definitions have changed since the fall of the USSR (Where the USSR was "2nd World", hence first world and third world, but never hearing 2nd world). Now it's all based off HDI, [url=http://hdr.undp.org/en/media/HDR_2011_EN_Table1.pdf] which shows that Britain is LESS developed than Ireland.[/url] (Norway being first, Ireland 7th and Britain...28.) Jealous much?
