Is there a specific story or setting you've always wanted to experience in a video game?
I know I'm going to get a lot of hate for this, but I've gotta say 343's Halo takes the top spot for me. I just love the idea of being part of a cosmic game of gods and demons fighting each other. I can't wait to see how the player gets to disrupt the Precursor/Forerunner plans in the future as well.
Mass Effect is definitely another one- the sociopolitical conflicts brought up by the first game in particular were really interesting, and the Reaper/Prothean lore suggesting that we're "the cycle to break it all" was awesome.
Oh yeah, and I could go on for days about Metal Gear and the original Dino Crisis.
How about you guys?
Hypotheticals are definitely allowed. Indeed, they're pretty much the point of the thread.

13 RespuestasMy fantasy is basically the Cold War, but set in space. Two massive military industrial complexes are secretly trying to dismantle the other, through espionage, proxy wars, etc. You play as an agent who was burned by the company he worked for, and labeled as a terrorist and fugitive of his homeworld. Meanwhile, you've got a price on your head in the criminal underworld. The game/series would be about you trying to clear your name and find out why you've been setup, while being hunted by a variety of different factions who want you for different reasons.

3 RespuestasA Sci-Fi game set in a future where Humanity haven't discovered FTL travel. The solar system is overcrowded and the majority of Humans are extremely poor. You play as someone forced into commiting "questionable" acts in order to keep his family alive.

3 RespuestasEven though it never happened - and I was fine with Halo 3 was - that diorama trailer was fantastic. I wanted that in Halo 3 or any other Halo game. To me that trailer (actually the whole Believe ad campaign) really set the mood for a the finale of Halo. The diorama showed humanity being beat down on their own home planet and hordes of Covenant relentlessly assaulting the UNSC forces, but the Chief wasn't entirely out of the fight. I really wish that sort of thing was in the game or at least have a multiplayer level designed after the diorama for BTB.

1 RespuestaYou say would you, but your body of text is more like "Have you", if we're talking play through in a game. Are you saying experience in reality?
