So a lady called me paranoid for carrying a gun.
I was at school today paying this semesters tuition and ran into some of my friends. One of them told me that he has finally gotten his CCW license. So all of us started talking about that subject...
Well after it was all over and as I was leaving. A young lady stopped me and protested against me carrying a concealed gun. She said "why do you NEED exactly to carry a gun? Nobody is going to just shoot you in public like that. If there ever is trouble, that is what the cops are for! Let them handle it. You just look paranoid."
Now, I calmly said that a cops response time can be minutes. Whereas a shootout situation can be over in mere seconds and it could be good or very bad for me. If somebody is threatening my life, or the lives of others and I see an intent to cause harm. Then I have every right to act and protect. A cop simply cannot be there within a split second. So I am the first response in a way.
I am not paranoid. I have never ever been paranoid. Know why? Because I have this security attached to my waistband! I pray that I NEVER have to use it! I do not go looking for trouble, or ask for it like some people seem to think.
It is not paranoia. It is security for me, my family, in the case of life threatening danger.

7 RespuestasUnless you live in the slums of a big city or live in a city or town with a very heavy gang presence, then you really don't need a CCW. I live in a town where Nortenos and Surenos go at it pretty much every single day, even on school campuses. Kids in this town pretty much have a family or a friend in a gang. I've lived in this town for 13 years and never once have I needed to have a gun on me for self defense. Maybe the cops in your town or city just don't care. The ones in here respond pretty much immediately.

2 RespuestasI think you are paranoid. If you're being targeted how would a concealed weapon even help you? You'd be shot before you had it out. In the scenario of "helping" a victim you're acting on assumptions, potentially making the scenario worse. If a country wants to arm its citizens I think weapons of incapacitation are a better alternative to lethal weapons.

wait, were you carrying your gun on college campus or just talking about it? I know my University did not allow CCW on campus, but I could be misinformed as I do not carry myself (but may one day want to).

I over-heard a conversation between a guy that openly carried and a store manager the guy was saying how he's gotten the cops called on him twice both times he had his family with him (wife and two little kids both girls) and they were just shopping. Humanity: bunch of dipshits.

1 RespuestaI'm not trying to insult anyone, but what happens when everybody owns a gun? If a guy were to hold up a store its not like all the armed shoppers would suddenly unite to stop the guy. If the robber were to begin a shootout then you'd probably start a chain reaction where groups of people would end up shooting at each other believing the others to be criminals.
