Dual wielding, a variety of melee weapons, cat ears/tails, and other selected ideas for the upcoming epic. My point to this is, whats the big deal in having these ideas in the game? Customization and being your own is a HUGE focus in the game, and if a person believes they can be a cat cyborg assassin with two electric katanas why stop them? Is it going to effect your game play? No. This game isn't just for YOU, its for all players, and they want to bring their imagination to fruition on their tv screens just like Bungie brought theirs into this great title, and to those who think all these things are impractical, this is fantasy, impractical is a tad bit of the definition, you think exploding the ground with a fierce electric force like a Blanka/Hulk hybrid isn't impractical, or changing your weapon into a blazing chamber of power shooting these sun rays/rounds into your opponent making it a one shot kill or practically such? These things you see unfit in the world are just miniscule and really just hold a sense of making your character molded to how YOU would fight in this time of age, and if i could kill an alien with a super powered katana in real life, im not gonna lie, id feel like a full fledged badass. so stop thinking such closed minded assumptions of what a FPS SHOULD give and think about what it COULD/WOULD give. Think about what Mass Effect brought to the table with its Sci Fi lore, remember Kai the assassin? He dealt some heavy damage with that sword of his.
but yeah im done blabbing~ comment, hate, appreciate, whaaaatever
i love you guys

4 RespuestasMeh. The concern has always been for me (and this has been the same for other Bungie games) is if what time they're taking to make something could have been better allocated to a smarter addition to the game. Would adding cat ears take too much time to implement in the game? Would dual-wielding? Could the time better be used elsewhere?
cat cyborg assassin
Okay, I've got to make this character.
-
People getting mad over cat ears are selfish.
-
if a person believes they can be a cat cyborg assassin with two electric katanas why stop them? its not bout killing creativity , its called practicality . it was funny at first but things like cat ears and so forth have become a nuisance , and whats more it promotes unreasonable expectations from people , you know full well these things will not and have not made it in. except dual wielding , that's actually logical.
-
Cat ears? This isn't wow or some other MMO. This is an FPS first, plus everything in the game should fit into the lore of the gameworld. If cat ears and swords etc.. fit in, fine but I highly doubt it. just my 2 cents.
-
4 Respuestasgah it won't let me be neutral, so I'm leaving it on dislike. Because I didn't like it. The thing is, cat ears etc. don't fit the tone of the game, as well as adding no good game mechanic. Staten (and a lot of other Bungie people) stated that armor/clothing would actually have an effect on the sandbox. therefore, I don't want cat ears etc. because of that. I mean, what kind of stat would it boost? Secondly, one hit kill weapons could be a major problem in the sandbox and would have to be tweaked accordingly. I don't have that much of a problem with them, but they at least have to require some sort of skill to use. Melee should be like Halo. not 4, but Reach or 3 sword would be awesome. Dual wield is awesome.

Damn You All With The Cat Ears!

1 RespuestaActually you're wrong. Game Design is not a simple construct, it has layers upon layers of complexity. There are very few design choices that you can make that can be considered entirely "harmless", everything has an impact on everything else, and it's up to the Game Designer to decide what features fit and which features don't. At the end of the day you're welcome to continue to suggest features like Cat Ears or Dual Wielding, but you shouldn't expect people to warmly embrace those ideas unless you can show that they can coexist with everything else in the Destiny Universe.

3 RespuestasMelee weapons don't bother me. They were in every Halo game after the second and no one complained there (unless they were on the receiving end of a Gravity Hammer). Besides, the Fallen have swords, why can't we? I probably won't use them, but why stop others from using them? The cat ears/tail, however, ruin immersion. Destiny is a serious game, and seeing people running around with cat ears and a tail takes away from that. As for dual-wielding, it doesn't make sense in this game. It made sense in the Halo series because Spartans are inhumanly strong and wearing power armor, but that's not the case in Destiny. I'd much rather they not waste several weeks working on dual-wielding when they could spend that time on game mechanics that are actually enjoyable. Also, several people in this thread need to calm down. Cat ears WON'T be in the game, save your vitriol for when the game comes out and everyone inevitably decides it sucks. :P

2 RespuestasActually, it will make a difference for me. I don't want to see a bunch of 12-year-old comedians running around with cat ears, tails, and all that. And besides, they're Guardians of the last safe city on Earth, not WoW or Final Fantasy heroes.

4 Respuestas
if a person believes they can be a cat cyborg assassin with two electric katanas why stop them? Is it going to effect your game play? No.
But actually, yes. Seeing someone running around with cat ears/tail would most certainly effect my game play because I'd put my controller down, remove the disc and snap it in half. This isn't the type of game that has cutesy Japanese inspired nonsense for pokemon fans. That's not what fans of Bungie (generally speaking) are after and you have no right to get all indignant over that. It's not like we're on a Final Fantasy forum insisting that spikey hair do's or impractically giant swords be omitted. Get some perspective.

3 RespuestasStop bringing up the god damn cat ears...

Sorry, but if I see cat ears or tails or other furfag shit in this game, then I'm gonna lose it.

Ill admit I skimmed your post (wall of txt and all that) but if not concise very true and should be applied and remember by more of us.

3 RespuestasI stopped reading at electric katanas because that sounds awesome

1 RespuestaI agree also TACOS!!!

3 RespuestasI am all up for anything as long as it is fair to competitive side of things. If dual wielding was a thing then two guns > one gun and the game would turn into a dual wielding crapfest. Not only that but it would take up more space on screen and it would make your magic look really weird. It would be weird to solute, and wave to your friends as well. So many things go against it. I can see it if it is just pistols and pistols only! Or a certain kind of pistols. But if you want all guns dual wielding rocket launchers then I think you should have the damage reduced by 50% on each gun and have it just an aesthetic type thing.
-
18 RespuestasIf someone wants to use a sword so be it. They just better know that they are going to be at a sever disadvantage against a gun and they better not complain that they die 10x as much as someone who uses a gun.
