If you were told it would have Downs Syndrome? You have been given this information within the legal window to abort your unborn child, and your child absolutely will have Downs Syndrome; there is no chance that it will not.
Do you abort?
Why or why not?

I will not allow a retard to share this world with me
-
I will not be having a child. If I do then they will be adopted.
-
Down Syndrome people are some of the happiest humans you can ever meet. Makes sense that all the evil humans would want them killed.
-
4 RespuestasKind of shocked seeing number of people saying no. Jesus, wow.
-
All these yes's disturb me...
-
Absolutely not. At worst I would give it up for adoption.

I say no and if I did end up aborting it I would probably be severely depressed for a very long time.

1 RespuestaNope. I think if you know you can't handle it, then don't have kids at all.

Editado por TheBrandingIron: 8/25/2013 2:33:53 AMMy morality, my religion, and my upbringing all say no. But the cold, calculating nature in me says do it to avoid a potential burden on society. 80% No 20% YEs My answer is probably no. I would not abort it.

59 RespuestasThe amount of "yes"s in this thread is pretty disturbing. I don't know how people could possibly decide for another human being if their life is too painful to live through. Plenty of people with serious illnesses live happy and meaningful lives. It's not for us to decide. And for those who say they should be aborted simply because you don't want to take care of them, that is just messed up and selfish. Just the thought that someone would kill another human being simply because it makes their life more convenient is beyond words. You know what I think is worse than a child with Down's syndrome? A child who died before they could ever live.

If someone can argue against abortion without using. > Absolute morality > God > Spirituality in general > or an appeal to nature or authority. Then maybe I'll be impressed.

Kind of shocked seeing the number of people saying yes. Jesus, wow.

I'm not a woman, my opinion isn't relevant on the matter.
-
Not my choice
-
I'd let the mother decide.

This is an interesting turn of events...

I would abort my unborn child if it didn't have Downs Syndrome.

As someone with an autistic sister, it really depends. Severity, financial issue, age, people ready to help, it all depends. My family got lucky, my sister is very mildly autistic, but it's still always frustrating and tests your patience. She usually says things like "[The dog] likes [whatever]" instead of "I like [whatever]". She is 13. When she knows you won't like an answer to a question, such as "Did you feed the dogs? (in this case the answer is "no")," she either looks away and won't answer, just stares at you and won't answer, changes the subject, or walks away. As her brother, this is incredibly aggravating and taxes my patience--imagine parenting this. I've barely even begun to explain the difficulties of dealing with children, and people, with this awful syndromes and diseases too. So, my answer is a "Yes." I simply would not be able to care for someone who has Downs Syndrome, which can be much worse than autism, simply because I would lose my sanity.

Yes, because I would never be able to force my child, or anyone for that matter, to have to live like that. There's a point where the "life is precious" argument just stops applying...[spoiler]...and becomes justification for cruel and unusual punishments.[/spoiler]
-
Denying it the chance to live due to something beyond anyone's control feels so eugenic. I'd try to find a better parent for it.
-
How bad is it? Down syndrome is often found with many other symptoms and diseases, so it would depend. I probably would, though.

I got a girl pregnant?!

That's a tough call. On one side, down syndrome children are nice with great personalities, but on the other hand they are a lot of trouble to properly care for. I would like to talk about it with my wife to see how she feels.
