How disgusting, this is how laws are passed because they are made to sound like they "protect the children".
It says it blocks "web blocking circumvention tools." which could include things like Tor.

9 RespuestasApart from any technical issues, I still don't see the problem here. And again, customers can opt-out from having content filtered at any time they want. That's hardly an impact on "freedom".

Overprotective governments: Playing the shitty parent so you don't have to! This filth makes me sick.
-
1 RespuestaB-b-but the government cannot do wrong. Especially in the 21st century.
-
1 RespuestaSince when did the government take the role of parent?
-
Censoring the internet is stupid. If anything, why are they censoring websites that support people with behavioral problems?
-
All you brits should hang down low with the nice Australians.
So when does this actually take effect?
Anyway, as long as I can still access forums and games, I couldn't care less. It doesn't affect me bar those two.

To canada!

So when does this actually take effect?

1 RespuestaUse your guns and overthrow the government...... Oh wait UK.......
-
Sheesh, if they don't want people watching porn or drinking and smoking, at least they could try indoctrinating their children, blocking info never works.
-
See the problem is it likely won't be able to distinguish between 'bad' and 'good' sites, just the vague content; so you're potentially blocking people from suicide help sites and the like, which is not a good thing. And the other thing is that we shouldn't be trying to turn into a nanny state. Parents like to blame things like television or the internet for their child's misbehaviour, but the fact is if they took the time to instil the morals they want to see into their children, instead of plonking them in front of the TV or the internet for hours expecting it to do that for them, they would have a better relationship with their child; and if they took the time to learn how to use the child filters that are in everything these days anyway, they wouldn't complain about their child having access to porn. The government shouldn't be expected to do parents' jobs for them; if you have a child, it is first and foremost your job to look after them and it is your responsibility to not let them see things you don't want them seeing. Blocking criminal activity is one thing but parenting the nation is another. At most this should be an opt-in service so parents are at least made to make a conscious decision to block the things they don't want their children seeing.
-
2 Respuestas
It's the principal. Why should we have to opt-out of such a stupid thing? Maybe parents should just supervise what their kids are doing online, use tools that are already available to block such content and overall not be such lazy parents.
Hey UK. Remember how you got on America for not rioting with the NSA stuff? Ball's in your court now.
-
Not going to lie but i am divided on this issue. In one case i want the internet free and open so that we can do what we want freely, we can meet new people, and other awesome stuff. Yet on the other side one looks at child porn and wonders how does one combat it and stop its spread over the internet.

1 RespuestaI hate children.
-
I'm so sick of politicians using children as political bullet shields every time they need unpopular legislation rammed through.
-
16 RespuestasThat takes it a little bit farther, but I support the porn ban.

Editado por Logfish111: 10/2/2013 8:35:31 AMPretty sure every teenage knows what a proxy website is. I think this will have approximately zero effect aside from a little inconvenience. What a waste of time.

Sucks to be a Europoor, doesn't it?
-
What's Labour's reaction been to this? I'd love to fight an election on this issue since it seems like it would be an automatic win for anti-filter groups.
-
WON'T SOMEONE THINK OF THE BALLS MAN! AN ENTIRE GENERATION OF BRITISH TEENS WON'T HAVE PORN TO FAP TO! ALL BALLS WILL BE AS BLUE AS THE SKY!

1 RespuestaWhat's the point in censoring these things on the internet when the same things can be seen just as easily on televison and in books? It just seems a bit stupid.
