Things that are black absorb all of the colored light and reflect none while white absorbs no colors and reflects all. An object that is red absorbs all colors except for red and reflects red, thus that's the color we see it as. -You can figure out the elements that a star is comprised of by analyzing its unique color spectrum. Certain elements have a certain color spectrum and when you look at the spectrum of a star, it's all of these elements spectrums superimposed.
