I don't agree with everything you posted, but your main idea is pretty spot-on. They really did ruin the game. I wonder how many more games Bungie will hand over to them & let them ruin?

None. Unless Activision is a money whore, which they are.

It's a legit question. I'm wondering if Bungie is setting itself up to be more of a new game idea creator which will continuously make new games and then sell them off to other companies to manage? Or, if Bungie is going to stick with Destiny as the game it will continue to create new games from and then manage those Destiny games from there?
-
No, no, no. 343 was created because Microsoft wasn't ready to let the Halo IP doe off, but Bungie wanted to move on. So MS, being that they own the IP, creates 343 Industries to foster the Halo IP since Bungie didn't want to spend the rest of its existence returning to the well. Aside form the transference of the Halo IP, Bungie and 343 have no real connection.

343 was around before Halo 4...
-
I'm well aware. It was put in place to safeguard and continue the highly profitable franchise that is Halo. Bungie had a hinge hand in its creation. Why do you think Frank O'Connor (a big name at Bungie) left to be head creative over there? It was all well thought out LONG before Halo 4 was released, possibly even before Halo 3.
-
Yeah, Wikipedia says that the name was registered in July 2007 by Microsoft for the future development of the Halo franchise.
-
I might be mistaken, but I think Franky may have just started out as an über-fan.
-
idk I thought he was one of the original members of the Halo team.
-
Editado por Obi Wan Stevobi: 7/25/2013 2:43:37 PMNo, Frankie came on as a writer at the end of Halo 2 development, and left shortly after the Halo 3 release. In reality, he didn't work at Bungie very long. But, people tend to think he was on of the founders or one of the more important people there. Probably because he was the community writer and his job was to be the public face of the company, just like Lukems, Urk, and now Deej after Frankie left.
-
It's entirely possible. There's not a lot of info on the net, but that would lend more credence to the fact that they'd put him in charge.

Fundamental misunderstanding of the situation. Bungie was purchased by Microsoft before Halo was ever released. Even though the studio was given quite a bit of autonomy, they were MS property, along with all their IPs. When Bungie finally sought to become independent of MS again, there was no way MS was just going to let them have a multi-billion dollar franchise. Bungie did buy back their own independence, but MS continues to own Halo. Microsoft formed 343 to take over Halo because Bungie was leaving the company, but MS was keeping Halo.
-
343 has been around since Halo 3.
-
Yes, the same time Bungie and MS split, after Halo 3. ODST and Reach were part of Bungie's separation agreement. That's why they made two non-Chief Halo games, they didn't want to bring him back after they knew they wouldn't be able to finish his story.
-
Oh, ok. I thought Bungie created Halo before they were purchased by Microsoft.
-
They were in development of Halo, but the studio ran into financial trouble because they had to do a recall for Myth II, which had a bug that could wipe users' hard drives. Microsoft offered to buy them after they teased an early version of Halo at MacWorld. With few other options at the time, Bungie went for the deal.
-
Ok, I totally misunderstood the vid Bungie put out on their history though. I'm glad an outstanding member, such as you is here to set things straight for me though. :)
-
I'm not normally helpful, just some Halocharts nostalgia kicking in.
-
HaloCharts? You were on HaloCharts? :o
-
Pretty sure I've played quite a few games of Halo with you.

Bungie didn't sell Halo to 343i. Microsoft owned Halo, and since Bungie was leaving Microsoft started 343i to continue Halo. Bungie didn't have a say in it.
-
Again, 343i was around since Halo 3.
-
Bungie had to sell Halo to them before they owned it.
