The report –- which was based on data collected until 2011 -- revealed that the California teen pregnancy rate reached a 20-year low that year. While in 1991, there were 70.9 births for every 1,000 teens aged 15-19, in 2011 this number decreased to 28 births per 1,000 teens.
Teen pregnancy rates fell across all ethnic groups, according to the report. The Hispanic teen birth rate dropped from 73.6 in 2001 to 42.7 in 2011 –- although Hispanics continue to be the group with the highest teen birth rate. Teen pregnancy rates for African-Americans, Whites and Asian-Americans also decreased significantly.
Several factors contributed to the falling pregnancy rates, the department said in a press release. One factor was the state’s school sex education program, which law requires to be comprehensive and medically accurate. The report also credits community-based education programs that provide sexual health information to teens and their parents.
[link]
Who'd've thunk?
Now if only other states could kill their abstinence-only sex ed, they'd see lower teen pregnancy rates, too.

Editado por die wily: 7/26/2013 3:13:33 PMIf you don't talk about sex, it can't happen. People need to have mature sexual views; minors are by definition immature, therefore only adults can be ethically permitted to learn about sex. Q.E.D.

It seems sad that people demand studies to prove this, then ignore the findings.

Degenitalisation = Lower teen pregnancy rates

2 RespuestasI thought this was bloody obvious. No, sex ed is not pornography. No, it will not turn your child into some sex crazed, perverted, troglodyte. There is nothing wrong with sex. None of us would be here without it.
-
15 RespuestasIt's just birth control they are handing out now isn't it? If anything is say more kids are doin it now but just getting out of the responsibility.

2 Respuestas"SEXUAL EDUCATION" IS A PERVERSION OF GOOD CHRISTIAN VALUES! ALL IT DOES IS SHOW OUR CHILDREN PORNOGRAPHY AND FILTH! I DON'T WANT OUR CHILDREN LEARNING HOW TO DO GAY SEX FROM SOME GODLESS PERVERT! (Common sense study is common sense, gee, if we show kids how to not get pregnant, they tend to not get pregnant)

My old High School had/has a population of around 3,000 students. And there are no Sex Ed classes. My school had no Teen Pregnancies when I graduated.
-
The are where I live in, our sex ed program heavily emphasized abstinence. My graduating class had about 7-8 girls pregnant that walked, while a whole bunch of others didn't.

4 RespuestasMy school didn't have sex ed and we didn't have very many pregnant girls. I honestly don't think I've seen one.
