I was more confused on how chief survived when physically touching a nuke when it went off. And I seriously doubt cortana could shield chief from a point blank nuke that destroyed the entire station while holding down the didact. The explanation given was BS and the scene that followed wasn't really sad or emotional, it was kinda creepy watching cortana touch chief's chest.
