How open world is this? How will we travel between zones? Is it anything at like skyrim's open world?

7 RespuestasFrom what I understand, the world is broken up into multiple destinations that can be explored Freely in an open world style. However don't expect the size of these destinations to be as big as skyrim's map.

Faaaaaaaaak!
How will we travel between zones?
Your ship is for fast travel.
-
It will probably be mega servers
-
There will be multiple zones (each around the size of gta v) per planet (4 confirmed planets) and I'm assuming the only loading screens will be between zones and in pvp

10 RespuestasThe maps are massive. With the new engine Bungie is running you can load and travel 3km^2 at once before needing any type of buffer or loading for a new "zone". That's almost the size of the GTA V map. From what's been said the actual areas are really huge.

I think there are going to be servers which organize the players in, because thousands of people on a big game like this, there will be lots of loading screens. So I think they are going to split groups into servers. Like every (random number) players into a server.

2 RespuestasA related question : How big exactly is 2/3rds of Halo Reach? In Skyrim Terms, Im thinkin that each location will be about the size of the Rift Hold (at best).

1 RespuestaSkyrim's open world was poop for what they said it would be
-
It's open OTHER worlds too lol In all honesty, idk
-
In one of the E3 Bungie interviews one of the bungie employees (don't know which) said its 2/3 the size of reach, I assume that's just in certain areas like old Russia or the city, yes it is open world.

Editado por Regicide: 7/18/2013 11:09:06 PMOpen-world, i'd say yes, but the space will most likely be distributed in multiple large scaled maps. Each probably comparable to how big Skyrim is (due to knowing what there new world builder "Grognok" is capable of).

In the e3 demo, they threw a grenade behind them very far, and said all of that area was playable. That seemed kind of open to me.

1 RespuestaMultiple relatively large playable sections called "destinations"(I see what they did there) will, i think, be available. So the world is not one giant area like skyrim, but split into multiple "destinations" such as Old Russia in the E3 demo, and I'm guessing there are a few "destinations" for each planet/'moon'/main area. Bungie stated that the largest "destinations" will be approximately 2/3 the size of all the geometry of Reach's campaign. I assume some sort of cutscenes or loading screen, or hopefully even just using your spaceship/vehicle to get to each "destination" from another.

1 RespuestaIt'll be like any other MMO, but it will be Halo style'd
-
I'd compare it to how gta plays. Many large cities to explore but instead it's planets and each planet having a city/area the size of Los santos lol it's a persistent shared world shooter.
-
Yes and no, would be my guess.

I literally asked the same question. The answer I got is that destiny will most Likely be made up of many "zones" that you might have to go through a loading screen to or be able to travel to almost seamlessly
