Healing...

In the Live Demo we saw Joe as a Warlock revive Jason.... Jason said in the interview that the warlock has healing powers. So will this revive feature only be implemented for warlocks? What do you think guys? Too much healing can be a bad thing, making the game too easy.

  • As a player of multiple MMO, FPS, Action, and group based games, I firmly believe that Bungie will make party style healing a Warlock only thing. I say this not only having seen all the released footage and reading their media statements, but also looking at the potential of group builds within a three class system. While there are multiple foci available for each class, it seems most logical to keep the Warlock as the support based roll. The Warlock has the lowest armor, non-stealth, is described as the "space mage" and has demonstrated arcane type abilities. The Hunter has been shown time and time again as the sniper/stalker of the team, thus slotting them into the stealthy scout, sniper, or the assassin of the team. Lastly the Titan has been shown as the tank, brute, and massive close range damage specialist of the team. Changing the fact that anyone other than a Warlock could heal fire team members would be an issue to group construction and make up. That being said, there will more than likely be armor/health type buffs for the offensive/defensive Titan, and possibly some sort of combat evasion/survival move for the Hunter. Which when observed will allow for the lone wolf game play to be fun and enjoyable, without damaging the group dynamic of wanting to make group builds with each one of the classes in them.

  • I think each class will be to revive but only the warlock can keep you from going down.

    • It all depends on the difficulty u play on. If I play on hard or extreme that heal might come in handy whereas if I was playing on easy it might be overpowered. In multiplayer, healing might bring a balance problem.

    • Believe me when I say that the healing system will be like LOTR Conqust. The mages can only heal a little bit, and have suckish weaponry, while everyone else has a buff, and gameplay works out.

      • In my opinion, it probably wont be limited to the warlock class, each class might have a unique way of healing such as the warlock would use magic, the hunter and titan may use medicine, there is no way of telling, the possibilities are endless with a company like Bungie.

        • I can imagine healing would be limited to the Warlock but reviving wouldn't be exclusive.

            [b]A shout out to the healers out there.[/b] I have found that many who look forward to this game are the kind of players who wish to go balls to the wall; leaving countless enemy corpses in their wake. I will be happy to introduce them to "another" kind of player...The kind of player who keeps health bars full and shields capped off. The kind of player who may die; but died bringing another back to life. While some players find joy bringing death to the enemy; We find joy in helping our allies cheat death. They call us healers, clerics, support, white mages, priests and medics. We keep our team on its feet as our team brings the enemy to its knees. If you wish to heal, then its all about the Radiance path. I think that it will be more than just for fitting the Nova bomb for a simple large heal or rez. Many will mock my words, but it would not be surprising to see heal, flash heal, heal over time, rez, combat rez and buffs. Maybe even a way to heal with grenades or guns will be found down the path of Radiance. Or maybe it will be something much less than the healing craziness that I have dreamed up. But I do know one thing for sure; I will support the hell outta my fire team no matter what tool bungie gives me to do it with :) [b]That sounded dramatic; I know. Haha I just rlly like to heal..Im a bit obsessed. :P [/b]

              • I hope that you can't revive players indefinitely on a mission. What I mean that there should be a penalty, or fear, of getting downed. That's a big part of an immersive experience for me. Maybe we'll need to bring consumable items from town to revive players if we're not a warlocks? Resource management like that could add an interesting level of depth to this game.

                  Reviving will be for everyone i presume. Healing field is arcane magic, thats mean Warlock power.

                • Too much healing? Me and my best friends are going in traditional. I'm going in CQB as a Titan (going to make good use of that shoulder bash) Hunter is sniping/overwatch Warlock is healer/support So there'll be only one healer for us. In short, no, Just the right amount of healing in my opinion.

                • It wouldn't make sense if your teammate is dying right in front of you and you can't do anything about it, plus having everyone on your team being able to revive someone regularly by being next to them without having to be a warlock isn't even close to too much healing. The borderlands series made it work without having to be a siren. (If u don't know what that is, check it out)

                • I really hope that the healing warlock has a huge advantage to reviving in comparison to other classes because what would be the point of reviving if you can just constantly just revive each other. Unless there is no automatic self health replenishing like in battlefield 4 normal mode, then I see healing warlocks playing a very important role

                  • Devs have stated that every class will be able to fill a support role. Considering the information we've received you can piece together these three things. 1. A Fireteam consists of 3 players. You can for this reason assume that your general Fireteam will consist of one of each class. 2. Each class/player can have multiple "Skill trees" so you can expect to see any player that cares even slightly to have a general team gameplay skill tree. 3. Every class will have some capacity to fill the support role and the other roles will be damage and tanking. My expectation at this point is for the general 3 man Fireteam to include a Titan tank, Hunter DPS, and Hybrid Support Warlock. Although this is just my assumption at this point of time with the information we've been given.

                    • Correct. Linky plz. No, all classes most likely. Everyone would chose warlocks if they were the only ones who could revive. I think there will be no more healing other than slight health-regen and the standard over-shield.

                      • I don't think so I think all classes have the ability to revive because if they didnt that would mean you would have to have a warlock with you all the time wich totally defeats the purpose of lone wolfing wich bungie has said you can do already I think the warlock simply has powers to restore health before downed

                      • Warlock will have a healing/ support focus. All classes can help "support" in some facet. However healing is not essential. Only helpful. ( may be needed in raids lol just my speculation) That all being said. I plan on being a warlock. And cuttin ppl down. Andsdd. Healing during pve and a lil in pvp.

                      • I would love to see something like a healing gun where you have to aim it at your allies, and "shoot" them full of life. Ammo not included.

                        • The revive future is for everyone but the warlock has healing supers [there will propably be more than one] but so far we know radiance which heals, buffs and revives allies.

                        • I think anyone can revive but only certain classes or specs can provide healing during combat.

                        • i believe so, since the warlock utilizes the travelers powers more than the other classes it seems like. the warlock uses radiance which seems to be a buffing ability along with healing damaged guardians
