Many users have spent time trying to explain how playing games on the Xbox will work. The fact that this has to be done is killing potential sales. The so called myths, whether true or not, are fact to every person hearing this for the first time. People believe it.
We have to look at where these consoles sell. No matter what Microsoft can't outsell Sony in every market. Sony can, and has, outsold Microsoft in every market. Even when Sony was in the gutter for the first three years of the PS3's life they could stay afloat thanks to markets like Japan where the Xbox just wouldn't sell. Americans will buy Playstation. If they buy PS4 this gen like they did the 360 then Microsoft is getting annihilated outside of the United States.
And it's price. A $100 difference is devastating. For one it's not pocket change and secondly there is a psychological effect on consumers by seeing a triple digit price difference.
Games aren't the issue. Microsoft is going to publish some kick ass Xbox One exclusives and it's not going to matter.

Thought: Sony looses the long run fight when their open policy on used game sales backfires and results in much lower returns on software titles, which TMK, make up for hardware sales since hardware sells at a loss?
