One thing that has bothered me a bit is that games have a short campaign, and no replay value to them. If Destiny is a game where the campaign is finished and nothing is left to do fun afterwards, i'd be disappointed. I don't know about you all, but I'm hoping the campaign acts more as a tutorial and the rest of the content is for building skills, some side missions, minigames, and is focused on replay value. I know some consider public events minigames, but if you've ever played some games like Defiance or Guild Wars they are often times ignored after launch and become uninteresting.
If anyone here has ever played an MMO before you'd understand what I mean. For example, Runescape has a short tutorial and tons of replay value, mingames, quests, etc. People spend years doing multiple different things in the world to build their skills and the game has minigames. I'm not saying at all make this game like runescape, and to be honest I don't even thing Runescape is a good game anymore. This is just to get the point across.
If anyone has also played another MMO for Xbox, specifically named Defiance you'd know even more what I'm getting at. Defiance has a lengthy campaign, about 20+ hours, but absolutely no replay value. The only thing left to do is grind for levels, and I beat the campaign at level 300 and the max level was 5000. All people do in that game is grind for the best weapons afterwards. It's really disappointing.

I was making suggestions on meaningful pvp. This could provide thousands more hours to gameplay. Go read and see. http://www.bungie.net/7_Meaningful-pvp/en-us/Forum/Post?id=60766888#referred-Destiny

Like i do in borderlands and skyrim; play dlc, pick a new character, or just explore

2 RespuestasNot takin' the piss here but why would you concern yourself with what to do post campaign, in a game that's yet to be released. A touch premature it seems to me.
-
BUNGiE confirmed that they will keep adding content for the next 10 years so you don't have to worry about that. Look it up.

3 RespuestasHave you ever played an RPG before? Please just shut up

The campaign will be non linear, so on your way to a mission place you may encounter something unusual (like public events) or you just feel like helping someone raiding a dungeon. That itself will stretch the duration of campaign. Plus, I think after that you can do whatever you please in this BIG areas: discover secrets you didn't before, face a boss you never faced before (like the monthly ones), race with friends or any activity with them, collect all the weapons, collect all the armors. And this is just the part referring to the campaign. There is PvP, which imo is something to keep an eye on. We're not dealing with some newbies, it's Bungie, so I trust them if they say the PvP aspect has been taken care of well. Bungie didn't show/talk about even 1/3 of the big game we'll see, trust me, you will be satisfied

1 RespuestaYou can go back to "chapters" in the game. Achievements, kill blah blah 100 times. I know I played Reach's campaign constantly, not only grinding my achies and stats/commendations but because it was fun!
-
1 RespuestaThat's why we have faction wars and the DLC (aka comet) coming in 2015.

2 Respuestas> Implying that the campaign takes you to every location in the game. Destiny is a massive world, you're going to be able to explore it, from Mercury to Jupiter, there is plenty to do. Looting dungeons, finding clues about the mysteries of the universe, anything you could imagine.

2 RespuestasEditado por Guru: 6/15/2013 1:04:07 AMThere are 6 planets you can explore and an unknown number of moons. Each of those is at least bigger than Skyrim by about 1 kilometer not including buildings. Which means there is a lot to explore. There might be a story in each of those buildings. Not to mention PvP. The probable ability to create maps. Public events. A huge story. There is a lot to keep you going. Also this game isn't an MMO. Your comparing this game to Defiance which is a mistake. This game isn't an MMO so some of the baggage that comes with MMO's aren't with this game. Also Defiance wasn't very good either. This game has been in the works for a long time and has a bigger more open and expansive story.
-
Well, I imagine it will be like skyrim. After the main quest line, there are still hundreds of quests and places to explore that you can never really beat the game. Plus, with a world the size of Destiny and dlc, the game could keep you busy for 10 years

2 RespuestasRaids, side-quests and PvP presumably.

I'm just concerned about how many days straight I'm playing it !

This might help. Definitely watch the video.

2 RespuestasEditado por Delirio: 6/15/2013 12:00:19 PMThat's why i keep asking about public events. My idea is that this game would be great if the core of the story could be based on what happens to the world. Bases to defend, path to keep clear, scout to find groups of invaders, transportation routes that must be secured... The common works of a guardian who steps out from the wall. And if you accomplish or fail this tasks should lead events to different stages. No one protected the supply route for long time? Than the enemies take them and in the city will lack a certain thing/upgrade/whatever to buy. You want them back? First fight to secure the paths and then you fight to overtake that facility. Make the story. BE the story. Not just play an "already planned story". That's ok as a training. I hope public events could have a real impact on the world, otherwise it will be annoying just play them on and on without a good motivation. And no, drops are not a good motivation anymore after all these years in MMO. I wanna do something that counts. This is the endgame I would like.

I've played an MMO before, DC Universe, and I understand where you're coming from. DC Universe's campaign was kind of a tutorial for endgame. Once you reached the level cap that's when the game really started. The key to keeping players involved and interested after the single player campaign is to have an enormous world that goes well beyond what is shown in single player, making it interesting enough so that people want to go out into that world, and give a variety of things to do that result in a variety of great rewards. Who wouldn't do social events if you get great loot that you can only get from social events and their fun and interesting?
-
I like to think of it as a futuristic version of skyrim, but WAY better
-
1 RespuestaPlay the competitive multiplayer? Do end game instances? That's all I've got right now since we still don't have a lot of information on the game.
-
4 RespuestasBungie has said that they will be adding dungeons and other areas to the planets after release.

2 RespuestasThink of this game a a skyrim with no dragons and a fps. If mn correct you can travel to a lot if not all of the solar system planets. I highly doubt a game that has 3 sequels comfirmed will be a dead game after campaign
