I don't think anything which happened at E3 matters, neither do all those people who say they're going to switch to PS because of it.
Such a stupid attitude for a gamer to have. Last night was actually a show of consumer force. One of the first in many years that really should have happened sooner.
you need to realize both Sony and Microsoft are after one thing and one thing only; your money.
This is true. Why then wouldn't Sony DRM the bejesus out of their console to the point of bricking it if you don't sign in to prove game ownership every 24 hours? If they both want our money so bad, why didn't Sony dive balls deep into DRM party and take their cut of used game sales? Because what paying customers think matters. Without us, they don't make any money. What Sony did at E3 was important because they proved they actually care about pleasing their customers. On the other hand, Microsoft assumed that we are mindless money machines that will buy whatever they sell because we love them. The exact same hubris that led to the PS3 being stomped on by the XBox 360.
Sony catered to gamers with a lower price point, more rights over our purchases, and cheaper subscription service with more games included with that service. Microsoft decided to impose their own will on the industry and expects everyone to go along with it. I think the backlash they are getting now is important because gamers should not tolerate being taken advantage of. A car owner would never buy a car from Chevy if they were not allowed to resell that vehicle. They'd flock to Ford in a heartbeat. Who would ever buy a vehicle that you couldn't let a friend drive when they needed it? Last weekend I had a garage sale. I legally resold a load of baby clothes and toys. Could you imagine if Fisher Price came to my garage sale with a cease and desist order telling me I can't resell baby clothes and toys my kid grew out of? That would be ridiculous, and consumers wouldn't tolerate it. Why should the gaming industry be a special exception where we have no rights to our purchases?
They've already found enough ways to squeeze money out of us. Price of games edging up year by year. Limited editions that cost $30 more with a $2 plastic Chinese toy that comes in the box. Forcing us to view ads in game and on online services we are already paying a premium for. Releasing games with limited content and selling the rest as add ons. Avatar vanity items.
It isn't such a trivial thing that gamers react strongly to the major split in philosophy we saw last night. Sony is catering to customers, and Microsoft is relying on a monopoly of fans to keep forking over money to them no matter what restrictions, fees, or pricepoint they impose.

Ya because playstations really showed Sony they love having free online play and guess what now you have to pay $5 a month for playstation plus to play multiplayer games online. I guess you guys weren't yelling loud enough or they just don't care about the consumer.

They are the same price? both will be $60. Also Xbox live gives you more. You get all espn has to offer, Nfl, skype, and all the other apps that xbox has always had that playstation is just now getting. Also you don't get laggy serevers and constant down time.
They are the same price? both will be $60.
Playstation Plus is $50
Nfl, skype, and all the other apps that xbox has always had that playstation is just now getting
So, the fact that xbox had the apps before somehow makes them better? Also, PS4 gives you games. To each their own, but for me, games on a gaming console are more attractive than TV channels.
Also you don't get laggy serevers and constant down time.
Yeah, I've never seen lag, exploding XBL parties, or down time in the last 7 years of xbox live.

Editado por GBD123: 6/12/2013 5:56:38 PMThe only good games PS4 are multiplatform games. They don't even have Kingdom hearts 3, Final Fantasy or Metal Gear Solid. The rest of sony Exclusive games are depressing zombie shooter that have been done a million times. -Im glad you agree because I've never seen any of that stuff on xbox live either. - Also they said Plus is going to be $60 now
Such a stupid attitude for a gamer to have. Last night was actually a show of consumer force. One of the first in many years that really should have happened sooner.
I was speaking in terms of which console "won". I don't think it's really going to impact most sales.
DRM the bejesus out of their console
An over exaggeration. Nobody is DMR the "bejesus" out of anything. Besides, most of that lie in the hands of the game's developers. Doesn't affect me either way. I don't buy used game nor loan them. I get on the internet nearly everyday, so having to do it once every 24 hours to play a game is no issue.
If they both want our money so bad, why didn't Sony dive balls deep into DRM party and take their cut of used game sales?
You're so naive. Just because Sony is presenting themselves to want to "please" the consumers more than anything else, they're going to do whatever gets them more money.
Sony catered to gamers with a lower price point, more rights over our purchases, and cheaper subscription service with more games included with that service.
Somebody forgets which console had the higher price last generation. I stopped reading afterwards because you somehow believe a COMPANY cares about it's customers more than they do about money, which is just laughable.

If you can't read, don't reply. I was making the point that Sony strategy to make money is by catering to customers. Do they care about us on a level other than our wallets? No. But they are smart enough to know that if they don't please us, we don't give them money. They learned first hand last gen, and MS gets to learn it now.
-
Ya thats why Playstation is taking Microsofts strategy with paying for online play. Playstation always does what xbox does...eventually.

That shit eating grin Tretton had on his face? It was because he knew he had your money in his pockets from the start.
-
Rightfully so. I'd be happy to buy from the company that is actually working to give me value for my money, rather than the one that does what they want because they think getting my money is inevitable.
If you can't read, don't reply.
Sorry boss. I scanned through all of it, and I got your main point. Like I already addressed in my original post; Sony played it smart, taking the more traditional route knowing people hate change, and I'm not denying that. They're targeting what people dislike about the Xbox One, and using it for their own success, but that still doesn't mean they care more about their costumers than Microsoft, they're just playing it safe and relying on the Xbox One failing. When it comes down to it, they're both going to do whatever makes them the most money, which is why I'm holding my breath till they're both released. I don't think either one of them is going to be a remarkable "money saver".
