You ready? Here's how it will go... (10 years is ridiculously optimistic, and only possible if they release on Xbox One and PS4, PC, whatever)... So, once again, you ready?
THE RUNDOWN:
-Destiny 1 - dope game, "life changing", "revolutionary", "OMG I LUV U BUNGIE" etc... No doubt, they will pour all they have into the project to ensure that they make a ground-breaking game many of us will rave about for years. Designers will put in crazy hours, wives/husbands will be upset since they'll rarely see their spouse; at home the designers will think only about Destiny and what they need to keep working on at the office. They will be extremely passionate about what they are doing, and to the gaming community it will show. Where have we seen that before? Oh yea, Halo 1 (Original CE, whatever you wanna call it).
-Destiny 2 - Guessing 2 years, maybe 2 and a half from whatever release date they pick for the first in the series... "OMG(*&(%(*& [insert random leet-speak here] HOW DID THEY...?" "The best just got better" etc... We'll all rave about plot-line and story twists, whatever multiplayer there is will have new avenues, gametypes, and more interaction, etc... We as the gaming community will embrace the ideas, stories, and saga. It will have solidified it's place among games. Seen this from Bungie? Yep. Halo 2.
-Destiny 3 - maybe 5-6 years from release we'll see a third installation, pushing further the things we raved about in the second game, but probably too far, possibly to a controversial level. We will question some of the plot-lines and additional characters, and partially wonder what is going on; (we'll have to turn to some graphic novel or book series to actually get to the bottom of the story). Whatever multiplayer there is will start to plateau, become stale, have a couple additions we'll like, but probably more "balance tweaks" and changes that on the whole will not be favored by the majority. Nonetheless, most of us will still play it, since "it's Destiny, right?" Die hard fans will still rant and rave for sure, even if they don't full believe themselves or wish things were a bit different. Has Bungie done this? Mmm Hmm, Halo 3. (see where I'm going with this?)
-(I'm not even going to address Halo Wars, or pretend Bungie will create a Destiny equivalent; hoping they have more sense than that.)
- A spinoff might be created, "Shadows of Destiny" "Fate" "The Will of the Fathers" [insert generic title having something to do with Destiny here], and MANY will HATE it, failing to see that it isn't supposed to be a true"Destiny" game, but a closely-related tangent, having much to do with several of the main or support characters, without actually continuing with the real story. Maybe even including backstory to characters we have by now embraced and done Cosplays or whatever for. (lol, not a fan). The multiplayer might even use Destiny 3's completely, adding nothing more than basic DLC content. (OK, maybe that's too close of a parallel but who cares, haha.) = Yea, ODST was pretty much a letdown. People who saw/took it for what it was enjoyed it.
-Pre-Destiny - (Whatever; comparison to Reach. Lol. Reach.) Many things will be added that we all throw our hands up and ask why? The story will have become predictable and dull, and we, the gaming community will be able to tell that designers by this point have stopped caring and are simply getting a paycheck. We won't care about the characters and the multiplayer will be terrible. Already told you- Reach. All Bungie, All terrible. (question my opinion all you want, but ask yourself, was it not the most overall forgettable Halo ever? If it wasn't for the wonderful Forge World, there wouldn't have been much of a multiplayer at all). Can't blame 343 for Reach.
-Destiny 4... Need I comment? Guess I can't really, since Halo's correlation has "new management" (which is partially a fallacy, as 343 Industries has MANY of Halo's original creators/developers). But in fairness I won't compare, other than to give my opinion: Halo 4 has a very nice campaign, not very difficult, but quite entertaining, it's clear to see where the money was spent. Spartan Ops, same thing- I dogged on it with my friends constantly, saying it wouldn't go anywhere, yet now I seem to have more fun there than the UTTERLY ATROCIOUS multiplayer. The DMR is the best it's ever been, (but they are changing it, sad panda). And Big Team was all I could stomach (find me, a 130, with an overall k/d of 2.34 or something, not many can say that). But what once was, has completely been toppled and trodden underfoot. It's sad.
OVERALL: You know what I've stated is mostly true, completely true if you agree with my opinions. So I'll give you this one chunk of advise, SKIP OVER THIS GAME. Don't bother with it. Yes, you'll miss tons of fun with friends for about 2 years during the first game (if it's really that big of a deal, get it as a platinum hit for 20 bucks at WalMart a year into it). But guess what else you'll miss? The monstrous inevitable letdown 4-5 years into the series when questionable paths are taken by designers. You'll pass over LOTS of frustration when your favorite things are tweaks, changed, or removed. You know it. It's Bungie. Look at their history.
See ya, it's been fun! (go have actual fun on Borderlands or Gears or something, or God of War and whatever other things you PS3 guys like).

Editado por MacnKill: 7/8/2013 2:20:49 PMI can not even begin to understand your reasoning. You're basically saying don't get into something that will definitely be fun and enjoyable because possible one day many years from now there will be disappointment. If you really feel that way NEVER get into a relationship with someone, let alone marry them. Heck, I don't even know why you bother with life at all. I mean yeah life may be really fun at some point, but in the end you're going to die thus letting you down.
-
I can definitely see where some of your opinions are coming from, I have one question however. Why should people miss out on 4-5 years of an an amazing and innovative game series just because it might (MIGHT) get bad in the future? Seems kind of defeatist. An individual would miss out on many of the best games of history if they refused to play games that gradually get bad in the sequels. Go Borderlands ;) My GT is GQwerty07 on XBL if you ever want to go kill Terramorphous a couple times with me.

The ten years they're talking about is the length of their publishing contract with Activision. Nothing more. You're just plain wrong on the Halo series, very very few were "let down," by either Halo 2 or 3. The online servers for both were still active and popular for at least 4 years each after release. Granted, Reach wasn't the best, it was still decent. Halo Wars, too.(Which was developed by Ensemble Studios, not Bungie. So that's completely unrelated.) Just as you've said, many of Halo's original creators are also gone, on to work with 343 on more Halo. (Which I see no problem with, I love Halo 4's multiplayer), so it's bit ignorant to predict the works of the guys at Bungie now, if you haven't even seen a glimpse of what they're capable of. Also, did it ever occur to you that they may "learn" from their mistakes in the past that you speak of, and take them in to account when making these games? You're right, that's exactly how the community reacted to Reach, and believe me Bungie was forced to listen to its unforgiving fans, so don't you think they would take extra precautions not to make those mistakes again? You're also basically asking a game not to change at all.... Where have we seen that before? Hmmmmmmmm...... CoD perhaps?
-
...And CoD (to my dismay), continues to lead and crush FPS sales doesn't it? look it up. The problem with everything you have said lies in your complete assumption that they CARE at all about the community. Its a company/corporation, and needs sales. They will cut corners, heed the words of "the few" if they happen to whine more, etc... It's a paycheck for employees, rarely has game development ever been about truly pleasing fans. I should know, got my degree in the art/design/coding of interactive media. If you can't understand that, I feel great pity for you.

Editado por RocKiN Ranen: 6/9/2013 3:05:17 AMI can understand your point of view, however, you understand that you are essentially claiming that Bungie will do the exact same things that they did with Halo, whether or not it's pleasing to fans or earns them more money. Bungie remembers their past, and they aren't doomed to repeat it. The Halo franchise may not have met all of our expectations, but there were more factors in those circumstances than simply the will of Bungie. You're forgetting that Microsoft also has their fingers dipped in Halo, and their decisions greatly affect the direction of that franchise. Plus Bungie has split, (you acknowledge this, yet failed to realize that) the employees that made Halo 4 no longer work for Bungie, so yes those employees probably worked on previous Halo games, but the employees currently working at Bungie didn't make Halo 4. Also, Bungie has published numerous video games in the past, that haven't all followed the same pattern. Bungie has reconciled from their mistakes, I can assure that they don't desire the make them again. I understand your concern, but your allegations are irrational. Destiny is a new path for Bungie, they are moving in a new direction, not revisiting the same trail that they've already blazed. None of us can know where this aspiring path leads until we have tread it.

Editado por K1ngM1daS: 6/13/2013 5:59:52 PMHalo turned terrible in the Reach days, all Bungie. All mistakes. Personally, and only about 30-35% of people I've talked to in XBL (mainly those who can actually aim and prefer precision weapons), disliked Halo 3 as well. Turning a 4-shot (12 bullet) kill from the BR from Halo 2, into a 5-shot (15 bullet) kill sucked, in my opinion. That opened the doors to the "run at enemy with AR trigger held down then melee," boring gameplay that plagued most of 3 and reach. Rinse and repeat for effortless 20+ kills, with accompanying 15+ deaths, if you're good. Yes... you could snipe or use the BR, but your time, effort, and skill was hardly rewarded.

What it comes down to is being naive, or realistic.
