Why would anyone want to colonize the galaxy?
The solar system I can understand. Maybe even the Orian Arm. But why the whole galaxy? It would make communication difficult, be really disorderly (unless you have an entire planet dedicated to records and planning), and other stuff I didn't think of. So why?

We can move forward without it, but the goal of wanting to rule over territories has always sped up the process. It's only natural that wanting to take that desire into space would speed up humanities progress on a literal universal scale.

If humanity was able to colonize the galaxy, I doubt communication would really be an issue anymore at that point, considering the advancements in technology we would have acquired.

Why do we do anything? To try to ensure our continued survival. The obvious answer is the more the race spreads, the more immune it is to massive extinction events. The secondary answer would be for the same reason humans ventured out of Africa. To find new niches to exploit to support our population.
