We need an antitrust lawyer.... FOMAN!
Short answer: no.
Medium answer: The SEC allowed the merger of EB and Gamestop just a few years ago. If there was anything that could of led to a monopoly, the SEC would of not of approved of it. They did without any hesitation. There is just too many alternatives to buying both new and used video games at the national, regional, and local levels that compete with Gamestop to the point where they can't control policy and prices across the whole industry.
Long answer: Again, find Foman.

Yeah, Butane's completely right except that he got the appropriate federal agencies mixed up. The SEC is where merger papers for publicly traded corporations are filed, but the SEC does not review mergers for antitrust problems -- that's the USDOJ and/or the US FTC (depending on the industry/markets at issue). The merger was cleared without antitrust challenge in 2005, and my (totally personal opinion) guess is that the extremely vicious competition in video game sales at the retail level (where GameStop is a large player but certainly not the largest) is the reason why the merger was not challenged and nobody has accused GS of having a monopoly or market power.

Damn, picked the wrong one. Been awhile since I had that class.

SEC SEC SEC SEC Oh, wait...

That SEC would probably think monopolies were a good thing.

Editado por VIC: 6/3/2013 8:38:41 PMYeah because the BDF* doesn't have any schools who want to monopolize anything or whatever. *
Big Dumpster Fire
Eh, we'll just threaten to abandon ship like we did last time if they go nuts again. Should of gone SEC the first time. Might of gotten us out of this perennial "Good, but not great" funk the football program has been in for the last decade. At least are other sports are up-and-coming or rocking right now.
