Life does not start until after its left the womb
If we considered it life the government would count it in the census
It is not life as it has no conscious of its own and is oblivious to its surroundings.
the Fetus does not complete the 5 characteristics of life.
Why don't we have funerals on miscarriages?

Life in a political context is different than life on a biological context.

You're redefining "life" in a way that doesn't work. "Life", biologically speaking, starts at conception. Now, if you wanted to argue "person-hood" (or something similar) doesn't start until after birth, go for it. But, "life" doesn't work.

A census is conducted about once a decade. If a child is born and then sadly dies between censuses, is it therefore not 'life'?

1 RespuestaThe point at which it is alive, is where it develops a nervous system and can then experience things, pain/sounds/etc. Some people do have funerals for miscarriages, it depends on how far along the baby was. The 5 characteristics of life are going to need an update soon anyway with synthetic organisms and AI in the not too far future. The government doesn't have the best track record of being useful, so I'd leave their opinion out of it.

I think in order to consider it life is when: -It has a completed, basic brain -Has a heartbeat -And has nerve endings to feel pain If it doesn't have those three all together, or at least the last two.. I don't consider it living yet.
