It is not the intent to kill the baby, it is only a side effect of saving mother's life if she is having problems related to the pregnancy.
Now follow my logic. No religious concepts are used.
Let's start with something that we can all agree on.
We have the rights to "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness."
At what point do we receive these rights?
When we exist.
When do we exist?
When we are alive with our own set of unique genetic code which defines us as individual people.
Webster's dictionary definition of life:
n. Condition of plants, animals, etc. in which they exercise functional powers.
A single cell divides.
Mitosis is a functional power of an organism.
Therefore, the single cell which contains your DNA and starts to operate is the exact moment you are alive (Conception), and you are endowed with the rights of "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness."
The only reasoning for ending this life is if it is a byproduct of trying to save another life, the mother's. (Removal of cancerous fallopian tube).
The woman retains control over her own body; however, she does not have the right to end a separate human's life.

In the end it will always end up being the woman's choice.
-
By this logic, it should be illegal to scratch the dead skin off your face when you exfoliate in the morning, because those skin cells are human cells and they have rights too.

When did Off Topic become a political soap box?
it is only a side effect of saving mother's life
Forcing a woman to look after a child that she is clearly not ready to have/not capable of looking after, is quite clearly harmful to her life, so the vast majority of abortions are clearly for the sake of saving the mother's life. Your turn.

The only way to get rid of welfare recipients and moochers is abortion. In fact, I think there should be rewards to those who are financially unstable for getting an abortion. To say that women have the right to kill kids is another thing though. Planned Parenthood already hinted at after-birth abortions.

8 RespuestasYeah, I value the rights of the woman more than that of her unborn child. If the fetus is dependent on her for survival, it's a part of her body, and she can do with her body what she wants.

The mother should be able to abort any fetus she wants for whatever reason she wants because......it's none of your -blam!-ing business. /logic

It would make much more sense to say that rights extend to sapient entities with emotional and intellectual capacities similar to those of a live human being. This covers humans and several species that we keep as pets. It does not, however, cover unborn homo sapiens sapiens that haven't reached a certain point in development.
The woman loses control over her own body, all for the sake of something whose mind is at best not comparable to that of a fully-developed human being, and at worst not even existent yet.
FTFY.

6 RespuestasLet's look at abortion from a nature perspective: 1. Due to modern science and medicine infant mortality has dropped significantly. 2. Science and medicine, however, have not been able to prevent most birth defects, autism, mental retardation etc. in infants. 3. Because we're keeping all those children they grow up and some spread their defective genes making even more "defective" babies. 4. We selectively breed everything from flowers, vegetables, to livestock, and even pets. While this isn't technically the same as we're not forcing two individuals to mate this is a way to remove undesirables from the gene pool to be able to continue with our freedom to choose mates. Now let's look at it from an economic standpoint: 1. Higher income families or persons tend to have the least amount of children, while lower income families or persons tend to have more, this exacerbates the problem of poverty due to not being able to support large families. 2. Because lower income families can't support their children on their own they receive government welfare. The more lower income families have children the more we as a nation have to pay for them. 3. If parents decide not to raise their child and put it up for adoption the child becomes a ward of the state and tax payer money is used to care for it. The more children are born the more are put up for adoption and the more they become a drain on taxpayer money. From a psychological perspective: 1. Some women/people are not ready or fit to be parents at all, these people usually end up harming the child either physically or psychologically during their lifetimes. 2. Children from abusive or broken homes tend to grow up to be criminals and exhibit the same patterns of behavior as their parents. If they end up in prison or juvenile hall they become drains on tax payer money... again. 3. If a woman is -blam!- having the child of her rapist can be extremely traumatic. It would be unfair to force her to have it as it was completely against her will that she was even pregnant in the first place. 4. Children raised in orphanages or foster care usually live tough lives and experience some issues like feelings of abandonment or worse. Logically abortion should not be outlawed.

here's my take. unless the mother is in danger of losing her life then it should be legal. if its there for teens to just have sex and get pregnant then an abortion then no
-
No OP. We are already being overrun in this country by poor, retarded people who breed all the time. Abortion is the only thing keeping the smart people from being overwhelmed by a tidal wave of stupid.

The alternative to legal abortion is illegal abortion, there will always be market for things regardless of the law. Would you rather abortions are done properly by qualified doctors or in the back room of some busted up building by someone looking to make a quick buck.

You are not an American citizen at the moment of conception. You are an American citizen the moment you are born and receive a birth certificate. Your argument is pointless beyond this. Also, it's medically and scientifically impossible to determine the exact moment of conception.

6 RespuestasMartin, pro-choice fanatics do not listen to logic. Your attempt to console them with intelligence is futile. They don't value human life any more than they do ants, and in the same manner that one can mindlessly stomp on an annoying ant, they can mindlessly destroy innocent human life without a second thought.

1 Respuestapro choice doesn't mean that you HAVE to abort the -blam!-ing baby you neanderthals, it means that the choice is there IF you want/need it. pro life is a completely illogical standpoint and those who actually agree with banning abortion are retarded nit wits who have their heads so far up their asses they can feel stomach acid on their skulls.

2 RespuestasIn other news, keeping things legal and safe always trumps the alternative. I'd much rather have it be legal and a woman can have it done in a safe, sterile environment by a professional.
-
In my opinion, getting an abortion because you don't want a kid is wrong. However, I believe certain circumstances should allow for exceptions. These include: risk to the mother's life. the family being financially or mentally incapable of raising a child. young -blam!- victims. strong evidence of the baby having severe problems after birth.
-
I find it hard to comprehend a warrior mouse talking about abortion.
-
lol rights

I find that most peoples opinions on abortion are null and void because they probably haven't experienced a situation with it as an option. Honestly if I got a girl pregnant right now I might consider it as an option, but I'd rather go with adoption.

22 RespuestasWhat if the child has mental issues? What if the child will be weakened in another way? What if the child is the result of a teen pregnancy? There are so many questions that raise eyebrows. But I agree with you on a basic level, once that zygote that is to become you is made, you exist.
