Why am I a ball rolling around in this game? Who thought this was a good idea
English
-
Agreed, it's lame AF.
-
And check up Marble Madness from 1984 :) It was pretty fun at that time. But, no, I don't think something like that belongs in Destiny 2.
-
Wow that's a blast from the past remember loving it as a kid extremely difficult though
-
Yes, I loved it to. Difficult, simplistic, but well done.
-
Sorry for the late reply I don't come on bungie forums too much anymore. I always loved the music as well, I miss my Sega Megadrive another game I loved was R-Type
-
Yes, R-Type, that was a wonderful game, too! I played that alot! I installed in on my Playstation and have played it on that this spring. The old classics still live :)
-
Yeah they certainly do still live pretty sure you can play a free browser version now, it's been a few years since I tried but it was basically the same as the Sega. Another good one is Smash TV great two player game.

Ever play metroid?
-
Is this feature anywhere as good as implemented in metroid?
-
Yes. Look up Metroid Prime 1&2 gameplay. Only difference is Metroid Prime 1 and 2 actually have a more obstructive camera angle and will often give you a more isometric view where the ball will go out of sight temporarily. Most Destiny players are washed up and can't game.

Editado por Nerd_Herd: 7/22/2025 6:35:27 AMAh. So we are comparing Destiny to a game that is more than 23 years old! Not only that, reviews from both critics and players, (including someone who actually worked on Metriod Prime) state that the mode is terrible, besides the fact that it is giving many people *motion sickness*. Brilliant game design! It all makes sense now, why we have super mario platforming in a looter shooter! GENIUS.
-
Referencing. They asked who thought ball form would be a good idea and I mentioned Metroid (which Bungie said inspired EoF) as an example of where it worked and was praised for and the majority of puzzles in Metroid Prime were built around morph ball. As for motion sickness, I personally choose to not have it.
-
And I state again why would a rational person think a haphazardly implemented feature from 20 year old plus game, of a different genre, would be what Destiny 2 needs? Is there a venn diagram somewhere where these intersect? Because I would be interested in examining that logical train of thought. Furthermore, "Weakness" is a choice for you I see. I applaud your decision making ability to simply decide not to have motion sickness.

That feature was central to a majority of puzzles in Metroid Prime which is one of highest rated games of all time. You're talking out the rear now and can't even be taken seriously. Why would a rational person see all the gameplay heavily featuring Matterspark buy the expansion and then question who thought it would be a good idea and play victim? There should be a case study on these forum users.

Was Metroid Prime and Online Looter Shooter? So how does this feature relate to Destiny. Something you have yet to answer after all your posts, yet I have repeatedly ask. By your logic, we should simply frankenstien any feature from any popular game and bolt it on to Destiny. You sound like a clueless studio exec now lmao. No wonder you are defending this action. And btw, did the feature in the game recieve wide spread acclaim from the playtesters who tried it? Because we can see the previews from Streamers and no one was enthused by it. And when the previews were out, there was near unanimous disdain for matterspark.

Your metrics for what is acceptable for certain game design aspects are invalid. You are not the authority on game design. The feature relates to destiny as form changing quantum ability as dark matter as a power is central to the new Saga. It is freakish and alien which is the whole point of the Nine and how the defy known physics. You can shove your "by your logic" nonsense because this isn't about mY lOgiC. Certain gameplay aspects were inspired by Metroid making such is not illegal or wrong. How is it that all these morons saw all the Kepler gameplay footage and playtests and how heavily Matterspark was featured AND STILL bought the expansion? Gaslighting and accusing me of being an exec because you can't control a ball is actually embarrassing. Like the concept of someone liking something and not crying over it is mythical to you guys.
-
You can say my "metrics" are "invalid", but I am not the one defending a universally panned feature lmao. I have an opinion based on reality, you are simy trying to defend and justify an obviously bad decision, long after both critics and gamers have decided it was terrible.

I have an opinion based on reality, you are simy trying to defend and justify an obviously bad decision, long after both critics and gamers have decided it was terrible.
You've lost the plot so I'm going to try to wrap things up so we can move on and I go back to doing ball things. On the topic of whether turning into a ball belonged, you asked if the feature was as good as metroids and moved the goal post with each reply. A quick gameplay search would show you that it is infact as good and less obstructive. You challenged my reference as a comparison. This is where you lose the plot again and forget the topic is about whether turning into a ball fits in an FPS or not when told about the acclaim Metroids ball puzzles got. Now you call your view an opinion based in reality but opinions aren't objective. Saying matterspark doesn't belong is your opinion regardless of how its received, its not out of place, has been done before, and there are still players who do enjoy the mechanic (all 10 of us to be exact) and game design reception is subject not just to opinion but on expectations.
-
(all 10 of us to be exact) and game design reception is subject not just to opinion but on expectations.
Bravo. So you finally admit the *majority* of players dislike this mechanic, yet seem to insist this was good game design. Even more proof of how out of touch with reality you are lmao.
-
That was never my argument. You replied me to me asking someone if they played Metroid. You asked if Matterspark was implemented as well and the ganeplay between the two are identical as far as controls and you deflected and moved the goal post.
-
You seem to have alot of trouble with arguments in general. As we can clearly see your opinions do not align with either critic or general consensus Maybe you should stop trying to convince other people that neither what you said is objectively or subjectively true, and spend more time with those who are as divorced from reality as you are. All "ten" of you lol
-
Editado por Nerd_Herd: 7/23/2025 6:50:41 AMYou have obviously lost touch with reality. Both Critics AND players think very little of this mechanic, and that is being generous. No amount of justification on your end is going to change that lol.
-
Justification? It's an expansion with a ball mechanic that was inspired by Metroid. You can play it or not play it. Art and media don't need justification and this is how I know I'm truly dealing with someone with room temp IQ. You can't even separate objectivity and subjectivity. This is done. Thank you for the most unique kind of stupidity I've ever encountered.
-
Why don't you go back to and spend time with the people who agree with, and are as divorced from reality as you? All "ten" of you lmao.
-
Don't get me started on that crap. It was cool for about 30 seconds. I can't stand the ball crap, if you want to offer it to us to use if we want to so we can explore stuff ok but don't force me to use something I didn't ask for. I play destiny for the gun play and the loot not to become a ball and roll around. Honestly the only thing I enjoyed about this dlc is the story, everything else has either been broken or just not fun.
