Idea for Trials of Osiris to increase players

Clearly the player population keeps shrinking in trials of osiris and its a huge problem. The easiest way to get the population up would be to add more glows and make them attainable and selectable. Alot of players would play each week to get a glow. If u start with a win gets u a white glow, then a 2 win streak pink,, 3 purple, 4 green and keep 5 through 7 how they are now. Imo that would increase the player population in trials because players want a glow. Instead of making stuff out of reach so alot of people won't play. give them a reason to. Bungie is so caught up on end game and that should be hard that they'll kill a game mode because of it. Why die on that hill especially when there's a simple fix. Thoughts???????????????

Players in trials are veterans, very antagonistic, and hostile, towards less skilled players, it's a pretty off-putting experience, not so much the losses, but the actions, and attitudes, of the players on the team, in my case, if I don't do too well, there is some decent folks in there, but a good percentage, are of terrible character, I simply cannot stand them, despite having mellowed with age. You can't save it, best to lock these guys up together, and throw away the keys, and let them kill each other. It will never be approachable to anyone, who hasn't been there since the beginning, nor can it be made appealing, veterans are both, very oppressive, and play aggressively, another reason, is that you simply cannot acquire experience, that has been attained over many years, in a short time, and even if you meet these standards, for what? Fun? Good luck having any with these guys.

    • I don’t play PvP and a glow isn’t going to get me to. 😂

As an old 0.3% grinder tortoise, Trials will never be fixed until the P2P / lag / latency / wheezing game engine and creaking, crumbling game architecture is upgraded and maxed to the nth degree with all the promise that technology offers. The SUS Brigade and blatant Cheaters* and quitters - need sorting. As do the paid carry crowd. Dedicated Regional Servers + a properly tiered ladder-type player system, also needs to happen. The a/m are not likely to happen in D2. They could in D3. What motivates this old tortoise to play Trials? Trials loot, eg, emblems (got one, the old eye one); ships / sparrows (got zero); and ghosts (got a few); and the odd piece of ‘must have’ gear, eg, the W dog lid (yep!); and finally, weapons. ‘Glows’ do not do it. The latest Trials system enables an old grinder like me to get to the lighthouse…which has happened whenever I’ve bothered to play. However, the issue of rewards being tied to win streaks, means that I’m only going to get the lowest of the low rewards…so, what’s the point? There isn’t one! Here’s what I really want…a fair scrap against players at or slightly above or below my actual grade (orange belt)…and, based on the old 3-5-7 rewards system in D1, full range of loot + a visit to the lighthouse + an emblem worthy of the effort! FYI: 3wins - weapon / 5wins - armour / 7wins - Flawless emblem + ships/ghosts/sparrows/Adept guns. If I’ve never got that Flawless emblem, then don’t ever match me against such players or stacked teams who do. The Karate Kid movie (both versions) showcases a storyline about misguided black belts stomping juniors at every turn…and sneering at their own might vs. the weak and less-skilled junior belts…same as the stacked ‘git gud’ stomper crowd*, who squeal the loudest when matched against proper Trials / PvP Warriors! 👈 🙄 This, in essence, is the issue with Trials…and ‘Twas ever thus! Trials has withered on the vine several times before…and it’s likely to rinse and repeat until D3 happens…and the suggestions above, and those made by a host of other reasonable Guardians, are implemented…or something similar. That is all. Ease* Springs! 🥋 * edited for autobot typos

      • Glows aren’t that interesting and not going to make a huge difference IMO to get player population up. It’s literally one day away from the next big expansion starting. That means, that the player population is likely at its lowest point until the reset date. Once that starts, some veteran players will come back and new ones will join. After that, it’s about how fair match making is, and how good the rewards are. Give us very high end and unique/ impressive weapons. Have higher drop rates of gear or engrams. Maybe let Trials Armor be unlocked as ornaments for free. Basically, make the reward mean something, while continuing to have it more beneficial based on how well you played.

      • 1. Get rid of the rampant cheaters. 2. Players who have never been Flawless shouldn’t play those who have with the exception of their Flawless match. If a teammate HAS been to the Lighthouse previously, the rest of the team gets to face Flawless players. 3. Add more objective rounds other than simply capture the point: -King of The Hill -Kill the VIP -Shoot the Oracles -Capture the Flag 4. Encourage different sandboxes each week Trials is offered. One week has bounties encouraging bows, the next players earn extra Trials rep for running triple grenade launchers, the next powered melee kills grant extra rep.

        • The easiest and simplest way would be just to have more interesting and busted weapons to go after If people aren't making nerf posts about a weapon, it isn't good enough to slog through trials for We need pre-nerf Immortal/redrix/bygones busted to make Trials interesting again

Bungie: Nah too much work, best you’ll get is a reskinned hand cannon
Also glows isn’t going to bring people to PvP. How about some unique and powerful weapons and armor. How about actual balanced matchmaking, enforcing bans on cheaters.
• I could care less about glows. my 2 cents This is not a dress up game, sim game, or fashion game. While all of this has a place and some very well may be in or belong in this game, it certainly is not a universal draw. Not every player is concerned about the glow the armor emits. I believe that even if bungie implemented this idea, it would not work the way you believe it will. I do not think that it would increase the quantity of players in trials.

        • The main reasons is rewards such as for playing and earned and Same old maps some okay and some straight trash. Adding glows will due worse than anything because players will just go in for what ever glow they want then leave. If anything new glows should be added after going on win streaks after going flawless. From playing trials it isn’t necessarily skill level it’s players without skill period nothing to measure. They have no movement no awareness it’s like they just started playing PvP for the first time in general. I had two teammates that was playing like they was in a gm lol like bruh you can’t just hide and hope for the best.

I think that would bring a lot of players in. At least for a few matches a week and that's what the Playlist needs because it's dying fast as it currently stands. I also think once a member of ur team is flawless, the whole team should be in flawless matchmaking.
