So if Bungie said, "Heresy is ready to go except some voice overs, check the TWID for updates on the release." You would support an eventual release? You wouldn't go on Twitter to complain or ask for your money back? Just so you could hear Xivu talk for 3 lines ? And if Sloane is so forgettable why do you care that you can't hear her?
Or, I honestly wouldn’t be against them replacing the VAs with either different voice actors or AI.
This is the entire strike right here. The future for every single voice actor in the country depends solely on them stopping AI.

Editado por Skully: 2/19/2025 8:11:23 PMYou’re basically just proving my point more. Yes, I’m paying for this, so of course I want the finished product over the unfinished product we currently have. As for Sloane, your question there isn’t that smart. You’re literally asking me why I care that I have to read subtitles over hearing a character actually speak. Also, I’ve said this in several other replies, but going on strike against AI is very counterproductive. If you’re being an absolute pain in the rear, then that just gives people EVEN MORE of a reason to replace you.

Yes, your point is very simple, but that is not how unions work. Especially in entertainment. Record labels and movie studios want to stop paying people millions of dollars for their talent. I get that. If voices become public domain today, then “The Beatles” would release a new album tomorrow. And the only person who would see any money is the person who made the program of voices. Any movie made in the future would say, “featuring the voice of…”, and that person would never be compensated. All the strike can do is raise awareness for SAG members. The actors are not avoiding work because they’re lazy. They’re trying to save their entire industry.

Editado por Skully: 2/19/2025 8:30:28 PMThough they seem to be really going about it the wrong way. Refusing to work is the worst possible thing they can do. Like in every job, if you’re not proving your worth to the company, you’re gonna be fired and replaced. And of course, the way to really prove your worth is to do the job and to do it well, so well that you’re seen as irreplaceable. By going on strike, they are making themselves look replaceable. Like really, Bungie should’ve hired other voice actors, with AI being the last resort if they can’t find suitable voices, even if temporary. Sure they literally did it for Cayde in Forsaken.

Historically strikes have favored the workers. We do not watch movies to see the owner of the studio. We don’t go to concerts to see the song writers. It is the talent that makes the money. Again, it’s the only action the actors have left. To raise awareness. To basically beg Congress to pass laws in their favor.

But by doing so, they damage their reputation with everyone that is affected: the company they work for, the playerbase that’s stuck with an unfinished product because of their choice. Also, if Bungie really wanted to replace them, they would have done so already. Makes it seem pointless.

Editado por Axolotl_Roadkill: 2/19/2025 10:46:09 PMThat's exactly why they are striking NOW while they are still getting their VA jobs. That's called bargaining power.

Bungie could not replace them. Whether it’s because the contracts would not allow it, or because the front office at Bungie agrees with the striking workforce. The decision to exclude the voices could not have come easily. No one liked the decision. The best Bungie can hope for is that people won’t really care and the memes aren’t too memorable.
