Doesn't matter if it's not made by Bungie. Releasing a mobile game that will most certainly be even more predatory than the actual game while also showing it has cool stuff that players would love to have in the actual game is a bad look

In terms of publicity absolutely it doesn't matter. Most people are going to see "Destiny" and think Bungie. This forum is a very bad example of the average consumer

It made a billion dollars. It didn't impact D4 at all.

Not saying it doesn't make money or affect current games but it absolutely hurt public outlook. If this new Destiny mobile game ends up being good the community will hate Bungie for not adding the stuff in there into D2 and if it's P2W garbage then the community will be mad at Bungie for allowing it to taint the franchise name.

So, it pushes Sony and Bungie to make the core franchise better through that discretionary competition. That's 'best case'. Worst case, Sony cancels or doesn't renew the license.
