I honestly didn’t know there was a skill level for entry to any of Destiny’s activities. This has flew over my head for the past 10 years playing since day dot.
Not going to lie, today has been awful. Been reduced to tears from some of the horrible messages sent my way, and now, being hunted down on PSN to be told I’ll be reported and banned for being a bit mince at aiming / shooting. I was invited to a voice chat, but declined since I assumed I was only going to get verbal abuse thrown my way too. Also, I’ll apparently be blasted on Reddit too.
I know I’m not the greatest player and against any PC players I’m downright atrocious, but I still try and want to improve, if I can.
I have a great clan, but we aren’t always in at same time anymore. This game has helped me make real life connections, my clan came to my wedding and I’ll be forever grateful for that. However, if I’m not banned for a lack of skill, humiliated apparently on socials by strangers, I honestly am a tad scared to even set foot back into some activities from the toxic personalities there.
I posted the screenshots in twitter and I honestly doubt it will be seen or replied too, so this is just a rant pretty much, but it’s so sad to see a game I loved so much that started off as a lovely inclusive supportive place to be, turn into this cesspit of exclusion.
FYI, the person from the chat wasn’t even in my team! So targeted and such bullying behaviour.

Yep this is one of the most toxic gaming communities around. Which is insane considering it’s one of the older gaming communities also. That’s why I play literally everything solo that I possibly can and then only do LFG stuff with no mic. It sucks, I don’t get to raid really ever but besides that I still get all the other experiences. Get my solo flawless’ when there is a weapon I want, solo dungeons or 3 person-lfg-no mic, and 3 person-lfg-no mic GM’s. I choose not to use a mic and not to play with other players, not out of insecurity over my skill because I feel like I’m actually a pretty good player, but rather because I’d rather just not put up with the staggering amount of toxicity in the community. Sorry this happened to you.
