I have a list of possible names to change to. Like my old name none of them violate CoC, but I would appreciate your feedback on it anyways. Please indicate any of the names that wouldn't be allowed. 1.Gilia Keiriel I appreciate your time. Edit: I'm sorry. I realized my mistake after looking at my wording again. Could you advise me on which of the names listed, if any, break CoC AND the ones which do not break them? If none of the names go against community guidelines then you need not reply within the next day.

Do you offer any way to obtain "tokens to changes your name" if you don't have any?

Oh, I disagree. Because of them not sharing their list of banned words and issuing name tokens when said list gets updated to those who would be affected by the change, and them not having an appeals process for the times they get things wrong, it is strange that they don't even offer people a way to fix things.

They give warnings before banning your name? I didn't know you got multiple warnings and had a period of time to change your name before they forcibly changed it for you. Or perhaps I have a faulty assumption. I was under the impression name bans happened due to a bot filtering for certain letter combinations for the most part. Which, if we look at their chat filter is definitely filtering out a lot of things that shouldn't be filtered out. And an issue is that words or phrases might enter that list that previously were fine, turning your totally acceptable name into an unacceptable one, through no fault of your own. That may be wrong. Perhaps it is all reviewed by someone who can judge each case reasonably.
The warning is in the policies you agreed to. It is also in the Bungie Name guide which is linked below the name change box. Failure to read any of that information is the fault of the user.

Again, it is all in the policies you agreed to, but I'm guessing you didn't read.
No, I read them. I've never had a name banned or any issues there, for the record.
No, all reports are fully reviewed by Bungie's security team. There are no bots. A player reported your name, Bungie security reviewed it, and then found it violated their policies.
Awesome. I stand corrected. So how does it work then if you have a name that is fine today in 2024, and then say in 2027 it becomes not fine any more?

  • If someone reports the name and Bungie feels it violates the ToS they will change it. How long you have had the name is irrelevant.

  • He's not making a reference to how long someone has had their name. He's saying that words become subjectively bad as time passes. Therefore if somebody had a name like General Jelly and a few years later someone entirely unrelated decides to start using Jelly as slang for something explicit, which then eventually ends up on the naughty list. It isn't then fair to take away their identity while leaving them without any recourse. If you have a name that doesn't violate ToS, but they suddenly get changed at a later date you should at least be warned before you have your name token stolen. People aren't clairvoyant.

Yes, I'm not saying that length of time you've had the name is an important aspect. That would be absurd. It is just the fact that what is unremarkable and fine under TOS today could be not fine under TOS at a later date. Through no fault of your own.

  • That's a good point. Having my name for the past decade of Destiny I've never received so much as an in game message that my name wasn't okay, let alone a email or note on bungie.net. If I was told that I had to change my name or have it reset, then I would've been able to change my own name without bungie eating one of my only two tokens. Now I have one token and no clue how I can change my name without it being banned.

I've already read both of those as I told you before. This is a help forum. If you aren't going to read the posts of people and provide help then please find someone else to be sarcastic to. Unlike somebody that finds something offensive about Gilias Azzeroc, I'm not being unreasonable expecting an explanation. I've heard it said that if you have dirt in your eye then you'll see filth everywhere, but I've never heard about anybody having their namely unjustly changed for having Glass, Pass or Assassin in it. Nor have I seen a retcon in relation to places, weapons and characters that contain explicit words. Please mark the difference between my name above and Rezyl Azzir or Ain Suhu-ässä that makes mine unacceptable. Both names in question are from Destiny. My name is objectively inoffensive. Would Gilias Azzir have been banned? Gilias Glass? Any reasonable person would say that they're acceptable. Pretending otherwise is absurd.
