honestly i blame streamers and the mentality that came with it, cuz everyone wants to be cool and copy the guy that does a raid in a 24h live stream, no one wants to spend a night with friends doing a raid, when i started playing destiny i didnt mind spending 4 hours doing a raid, i was having fun, and still finished even after 4 hours
but what you get today is people crying that they spend too much time in an activity, or that the damage isnt optimized enough, etc
that right there killed any enjoyment of end game pve, remember GMs ? care to explain who likes spending an entire season grinding their level up just to play a strike with a modifier that has you play 15 lvls under anyway ? that right there is the best example of the issue, sure you get to do GMs and feel special about a title but mainly because more than half the community doesnt have the time for it

Some people do have limited time, which is why checkpoints that last more than 24 hours would be useful. Unless that’s changed. I haven’t done much raiding, but I remember doing things patiently, having a laugh while doing it and not caring so much about the outcome because there was always tomorrow to go again. My clan was small, 6-8 people, and people would dip in and out of activities. They were great with me, patient and screwed up as much as I did, but nobody got yelled at or threw a strop, we just took a break then had another go. It wasn’t competitive like it is these days. I think Destiny is great in so many areas, but it’s got harder for no real reason other than to satisfy a few, and it’s alienated more than it’s gained. That’s not sensible business.

and people wonder why everyone was laughing at the itallian -blam!- for taking around 30 hours to do a new raid after the guy asked for a divinity nerf not sure how bungie doesnt understand this at this point, just cuz someone is a quote on quote pro at the game, does not mean they should listen to them, the game has become a farm of wanna be streamers who want to impress their buddie in the playground, it got so bad at one point I needed double the strikes to finish bounties cuz i got pulled forwards every 5 minutes due to some -blam!- with a flying sword

Yeah, it’s not helped by the fact that the game has stagnated in so many areas. Strikes are a prime example. Seen them too often, run them too much, no specific loot to chase- people don’t want to hang about in them because they’re dull due to over exposure, and one new strike per expansion doesn’t really cut it. They’ve got more elaborate with lost sectors, but forgotten things like gambit and dares of eternity, both of which could have been diverting and rewarding, if more attention had been given to them. But it’s yet another new 3-6 person ‘activity’ instead of sorting out stuff already in game that might be improved. As much as it’s frustrating, I understand why people rush through strikes.

Checkpoints last until weekly reset.

Ah, I seem to recall them being a 24 hour thing at one point. Shows how long ago I needed one, lol.
