Slowing Down Crucible is not the play.

They stated things in this twab that just won't fix anything. Making the game slower due to health increases, special ammo changes, and abililty cooldowns and dmg changes won't help lower skilled players at all. The people who play religiously will always outplay newer plays no matter what. The only way to let the newer/low skill players get better is to put on hard sbmm. And we know that won't happen because the high skill player want to 'have fun' playing crucible. The only way crucible numbers are gonna go back up are to either implement sbmm back into everything so everyone has to play hard in their games or turn the game into a fun fast paced mess that it was during the forsaken times. You can do this by taking the competative mindset out of crucible balancing. Either make the game hard for everyone or fun for everyone, both of those choices will make crucible more playable for majority of the playerbase but, the high skill players, who is the minority and will play no matter what.

    • Since I mainly play Hardcore CoD for my PvP fix, I like quicker TTK, and for Crucible, Momentum does work for me, but it doesn't give people the ability to truly test their builds, skills, or ability to use Destiny's modes of movement to outplay an opponent. I give Bungie a lot of -blam!- for their PvP choices, but any game that lets you build needs to let you test it properly. A sub one second TTK really isn't it.

      • Okay, first of all Forsaken had cbmm. Second nobody complained back then for getting clapped by sweats. Wanna know why? Every weapon and ability was far deadlier: 11+ meters shotguns, 30+ meter Erethil, double tap rapidfire sniper rifles, infinite arc chain, handheld supernova and the infamoues oem + ace. Objectively, in Forsaken the game had the highest pvp population to date. The skill floor was lower, so any casual could enjoy it. Crucible, aswell as vanguard and gambit lack any rewards worth chasing, so no amout of sbmm tuning gonna attract new players.

        • From what I see, the players that cant aim are the only ones suffering. On the bright side, the game has sbmm so all the bad players will basically have a hard time killing each other which makes the experience easier or better for them. The high skill players will see a difference for sure but not as much as a low skill player. High skill players land a ton of headshots so its gonna be fairly easy to keep optimal ttk

Disagree a bit. With the buffs, if you're accurate (ie if you're good) the game doesn't change. Widening the skill gap will help with SBMM a bit, if people come back. But mostly, it doesn't matter what they do with the sandbox if they don't do anything about the cheaters, SBMM/CBMM isn't altered to make it good and fun and if they HAVE to do something with all the cheaters.

It actively hurts playing with friends and makes PvP stagnant. Gone are the days of inviting friends to get on to play PvP.

Slower ttk and slower cooldowns do seem bad. Threadling nerf and few other changes were welcome though. You're correct about that good players will continue to be good and bad players will still be bad. The upcoming changes indicate that the games will be slower paced and the hand holding and team shotting will increase. Main change is that the games are going to get bit more boring. Checkmate was fun in Trials, but it made 6v6 feel worse. SBMM however, is not the answer. It has never been, and it most likely will never be. Everytime Bungie has introduced it to Destiny, it has backfired and players have left. Other games with larger population and dedicated servers perhaps can pull it off, but it's always bad news in Destiny, which relies on connection between players.

            • 100% correct. But we can’t do anything about it. Some streamer moron wants to promote his own gameplay and Bungo being the geniuses they are just listen and keep implementing these ideas that have gradually been killing the game for years. No idea why there’s not one person in the room when B makes those decisions who says “Guys … for every decision that we make, we get 25 forum posts of people being against it … should we maybe take that seriously before we have to fire another 100 employees?”

              • Bungie has abandoned PVP in Destiny. The bigger question is who will trust bungie to make a good pvp game.. "Marathon" lol.. I mean, look what they did with Destiny PVP.. If you use SBMM maybe the top end stops playing however, the bottom will pay because it is fun to test your skill against other players of similar skill. top players need the video evidence of their superiority and so need to play against weaker opponents to MAKE MONEY. CBMM allows the streamers and content creators to $H!T down the throat of players of lesser skill and forces lesser skilled players to constantly be over matched. WHY WOULD THEY STAY.

Destiny 2 PvP is not fun, was never fun, and never will be fun. It is fundamentally broken in multiple aspects, doesn't matter what adjustments they make or what MM they choose for the time being. The only reason it had any relevance to begin with is rewards tied to mandatory PvP. Most people who played PvP did not want to be there. This whole bickering about PvP changes or what should be done to PvP is pointless.

                • You're whining that good players are good and bad players are bad, and you've somehow blamed Bungie for it. As long as some measure of skill exists in a game, SOMEONE will be better at it than you. If you prefer games of chance, go flip a coin or roll dice or something I personally like SBMM, but you can't deny that since it's implementation, population numbers have dropped precipitously

                  •
to put on hard sbmm
False.
high skill player want to 'have fun' playing crucible
Nothing wrong with that.
implement sbmm back into everything so everyone has to play hard in their games
No...Thats what set PVP on this Path of Oblivion. fun fast paced mess that it was during the forsaken times. Im fine with that. Forsaken Era was a good time for PVP.
the high skill players, who is the minority and will play no matter what.
False. So...Bungie is making it harder then it has to be. The Fact of life is that there will always be a Low/Mid/High level of players. To make the game Harder for everyone, just to hurt High Level players..is wrong. Its like if you excel at your Job...as you get better with your work...you get payed less...More hours..while the guy who does little to nothing gets 5x what you get paid for only working 1 hour. So..like others who yes are high level players(like myself) have made plenty of Suggestions for Bungie..which went on Deaf Ears. 1: Implement a K/D Entry Level. Like in Planetside 2..Levels 1-15 dont match with the Entire Population. To get more of the cool items and play with everyone else you need to Convert to the Gen Pop which lets you go pass level 15. So for Destiny 2, it would be K/D. 0.1-0.9 K/D players will have their own MM. Then if you want to play with the Gen Pop...You need to give consent to join them..thus will stop you from Losing K/D past 1.0...Its called a Cap. Like what Bungie did with Fable. Once you hit it..when you lose..you wouldnt go back to Heroic. 2: All Survival Needed was Rewards & Maps..thats it..enough said. The MM was fine..there was no reason to change it. 3: There has to be a CBMM mode that is a Constant. Many players like myself always recommended Clash. Majority of the time people dont even play the objective...Make Clash a Constant and as CBMM. You cant please everyone..its impossible. What they need to do is just go back to PVP basics. The fact that a Dev who went to school and racked up a College Debt..cant figure this out..yet a Regular person who loves PVP and has no Debt..knows how to make a Functional PVP...is ..Shocking. These 3 Steps alone would bring PVP back. Its not rocket science. Yet i truly believe...its not even worth it anymore.Why?..Marathon.

You know the TWIB specify that they also plan to keep the same optimal ttk as it is now, with more emphasis on critical hits. Hence why they are increased critical hit damage on most primaries

                          • Or create a blended Matchmaking based around individual KDA. Put the high skill players that meet a certain KDA threshold on a Hard-SBMM where they either only play an equal playing field 50/50 or they have to improve and only move up never down. On the low-end certain players beneath the KDA threshold are strictly CBMM and will either improve themselves and move up or remain at the current level until they improve. If they do move above the threshold it changes them from the CBMM low-skill to SBMM higher skill on par with their respective KDA never to move back down only up as their skill increases. Make this across the board for all PVP except for Comp and Trials, keep those as is, whether Card-Based or CBMM respectively.
