Why do we care about what the witness wants to do?

I must be missing something, but up until Lightfall the main concern of the Witness/Darkness arriving was the arrival of a Second Collapse, except this time with the destruction of the Traveler. Now, with the splat that was Lightfall, I'm left wondering why do I care ab what the Witness is doing inside the Traveler? Let them play in their paracausal sandbox it doesn't effect us. They haven't yet explained or given a reason as to why what the Witness does in there matters outside the Traveler, or if they have I am not aware. The Witness was here, the status quo did not at all change, and now it's gone.(?) The City(No longer the Last and what SHOULDVE BEEN our concern and focus) is literally untouched. Also since it was revealed the Witness is a chimera of an entire civilization, why does it keep the empty pyramids around? They're literally just full of empty nothing and corpses, and the only time the pyramids matter now is when the Witness gives one to a Disciple. Edit: Alright yeah no remaking reality is definitely a big issue. Kinda blind to have missed that one. Idk just kinda bummed ab how convenient it is that the Witness hasn't blipped us out of existence yet now that theyve gone to a different reality where (speculation) time may not operate or exist the same way. I guess I don't rlly feel the stakes 6 months after "We just lost."

 • So it's not explained very well due to the narrative problems with lightfall but in the final shape showcase and the witness' few voice lines we can infer that the final shape is a "crystallization" of everything that ever was and everything that ever will be. Basically time and space become frozen into a single kind of reality where none of it came to pass and nothing more ever will. It's a big concept that really isn't explored fully and even my explanation of it is based off incomplete information so it could be wrong. What is all but guaranteed is that this final shape will more than likely spell the end of the universe as we know it, so regardless of the final result of it, it will certainly cause us to lose everything: our past, present, future, and identity. So that's why we must defeat the witness. What the final shape actually is doesn't matter to us guardians, just that we lose everything if it comes to pass.
