Why Not: Pick difficulty BEFORE being Matchmade.

Why not have 4 nodes for each difficulty. Easy -puts you in game with others that want to do easy. Mid - -puts you in game with others that want to do mid. Hard - -puts you in game with others that want to do hard. Etc. That way everyone goes into a that game wanting to do the same difficulty. No mad dash- first guy to deposit sets the difficulty for all. 🤔 PROBLEM: If the guy who wants to do hard gets his token in first, the guy who wanted to do easy leaves. If the guy who wants to do easy gets his token in first, the guy who wanted to do hard leaves. ☝😃 SOLUTION: Select difficulty BEFORE starting by selecting corresponding node so you only get matchmade with players who want to do the same difficulty as you do. No matter who dunks first, everyone gets to play the tier they want to play. 🫲🤨 ⬇️ 🎤

  • I really enjoy when people race over to put in hard mode mats and then spend most of the time limit dead only to leave when they aren't carried to free loot. If no one else puts one in I always just do normal mode because I can complete those with little help, never had anyone put in the easy mode ones yet.

    • Amazing how simple a solution to a problem that should never exist. Bungie pits players against players constantly creating the toxic environment. Why not help us to play the game in a way we all want instead of constantly having us at odds with each other.

      • Here is the thing tho. I can pick "easy mode" for matchmaking. Than do nothing but dunk tier 3's in I can also go pick "hard mode" for matchmaking Than do nothing but dunk tier 1's in. The activity it self is not really build around picking a difficulty. It's basically a new version of the court of oryx/blind well.

        • Not as bad as long as you have the proper loadout. Too many casuals bringing double primary, not playing the objective, or a proper super. Too many players treating it like a nightfall where they think they can hide in the back and chip away at objectives.

            • I think a lot of this pain point will be fixed next weekly reset when attrition isn’t a modifier. Probably the worst modifier in the game in my opinion. It’s not fun, and to have it active the first week of this new activity is awful.

👍This makes too much sense. Wonder how much effort it would have required to implement something like that. Makes me think they simply took the easier or lazy way to set this activity up. They certainly didn’t learn from the similar issues with the deep dive activity.

                • I didn't know this was a thing.. what a ridiculously stupid idea! Why the hell would bungie give players another way to troll other players? A lesson never learned.

                • That would be logical and Bungie don't do that very well. I played the story version solo and actually enjoyed it thinking 'wow this seems good for once' so I went straight to mm mode not knowing it had 3 levels and getting a jack*ss doing hardest level. With the sheer numbers of ads, shriekers plus mechanics and a timer? Thats not 'design' they threw everything but the kitchen sink in, I doubt anyone at Bungie can play that garbage, it isn't fun. After the same idiot rushed to set it to hard 3x in a row I left, have no intention of wasting my time on that again. I played blind well alot, not great, it was ok but this is just offal. Looks like they learned nothing from escalation protocol and difficulty.

Yeah this activity isn't really fun because of exactly that, and the highest difficulty is damn near impossible if you aren't running Strand Warbanner Titan with Stronghold and a good sword. But then your heavy slot is taken, and while it is incredibly effective and alot of fun just cutting everything down, there isn't room for variety. Its tasteless as hell. Why does the spice only come on the enemy side? Well, ok, if I can contend with a specific class, I have to admit spicy Titan there, but I'd like to be able to complete this with any class or combination, not just one, and I promise "Skill issue" isn't the problem here; maybe dev skill issue, but this one isn't on the players. I'm sure Tonno Senpai, or someone similar will jump in with their usual nonsense if they see it, but at least they're easy to disregard. I've already played enough of these activities to craft the scout and I'm two away on the fusion, which is a SOLID fusion. I will always keep that on me😂, but anyway, running what I stated, even in the highest tier it was insane how well it worked, but its literally the only thing that helps. I've tried multiple things I'm well versed in through my time in Destiny and none of them made any impact otherwise. Its absolute bullshit. Titans I feel, don't have a great selection of exotics. They're either awesome, or awful with no real middleground. The highest difficulty shouldn't only be doable by specific loadouts. Class flexibility should be priority in everything in this game, through all difficulty levels because that's what the game is about, among other things. I have resorted to letting others pick the difficulty because people do leave. Nobody wants the weak sacrifice, and I don't blame them, so its a contest between the two high difficulties and leaving happens too often. At least anyone can join in at any time. I do love how the activity is set up minus the insanity of enemies where we can just come and go as we please, but it needs some help. I still stand behind all exotic equipment being able to be equipped. If this tier 3 is any indicator of future difficulty, this is the easiest way to give people a shot if it doesn't break coding and create tons of physical issues, but as it stands, I don't want to attempt tier three at all because the failure rate is ridiculous. This really feels, at those levels of enemies, like the only feasible option to make it doable or even fun. I'm open for it being dialed back too though. If I'm using materials I had to earn, I expect a reasonable level of difficulty with it, not this shitshow. They were just stupid for making it that insane. The Shriekers being the worst part. Just one group of 3 is enough to basically instantly kill you from spawn, while trying to get to cover. When we die, its just downhill. Its SO hard just to get going if you've died just once. Demanded perfection is complete bullshit, and an absolute -blam!- decision on ANY developer. If they didn't get that nonsensical seeking, infinite eye blast, this might be reasonable, but this team has lost their -blam!- minds, and I'm convinced there is no concept of reality at Bungie😂. I laugh, but look at what we've got and how often they have to tune things back because they just have never grasped the concept of reasonable, realistic game design. Old Bungie did, but that's long gone. This may as well be a different company altogether. Maybe alot of people feel similarly, maybe not, I don't know, but I agree that it needs to be set matchmaking to specific difficulties to avoid exactly what's happening, if nothing else comes to fruition. Sorry its so long, but I feel like the playerbase puts more thought into this game than the people developing it.

                  • The problem is it's a 3 player activity. This system worked fine with the Blind Well, but that was 6 players in a patrol. It didn't matter if a few people weren't very good because there were 6 people and you only needed a few to get it done. With 3 players only in a matchmade activity, it just doesn't work. They should just make it 1 single difficulty and have it be 3 runs to fill the bar and call it a day.

                  • Hot take, its not that hard unless for some god forsaken reason you are using a double primary loadout with zero build crafting.

                    • Either that or have the easier options be available to put in first. Currently you can put in the most difficult offering first (which isn’t great)

Bungie is a bit like the communist of gaming industry They make crazy changes so they can fix issues that doesn't present in other systems

                      • Placing runes based on difficulty works in a patrol area. It doesn't work in a match-made activity. I don't get why this has to be said after a decade.

The biggest problem with this, is without any barrier of entry, lower skilled players will still join higher tiers in hopes of being carried. Which will result in the same thing happening now. We all know LFG groups that have the one person who says they know what to do, but actually don’t. This is the exact same thing, just without them having to lie on a LFG post. In theory your idea works. But it’s actually not as practical as you think it may be.

                            • Don't forget that they have a huge amount of data about how things like this shake out from Blind Well. Obviously there are differences but I'm sure they learned some things. What those are I haven't a clue. But don't forget that they use pre-start choices of difficulty matchmaking on the regular. I'd bet it was something they considered not something they missed.
