Not much content past few years

I defend this game a lot, but today it just kinda came to my mind since beyond light we have gotten I total of like 4 strikes 1 (new) crucible map and 0 gambit maps. What exactly are they even doing?

  • 5 soon 6 raids. 4 soon 5 dungeons, all the battlegrounds, the 3.0 changes which besides warlocks have been major positives, stasis, strand, glaives, but yeah we really need that 26th crucible map

  • Couldn't agree more. As a keen fisherman I'm like WTF with the fishing thing? And I wrote the book on fly fishing. Man

    •
I defend this game a lot, but today it just kinda came to my mind since beyond light we have gotten I total of like 4 strikes 1 (new) crucible map and 0 gambit maps. What exactly are they even doing?
New Strikes and maps for Crucible and Gambit all require time and resources from the Environmental Design team. Since the launch of Beyond Light we’ve seen: • A more regular release schedule for Dungeons with an increase to two guaranteed per year. • The decision to bring back Raids from D1 (while these generally use the same visual designs from D1, the Environmental Design team needs to go back and make subtle adjustments to the visuals to bring them up to D2 standards and adjust collision and kill planes to account for current D2 movement capabilities). • An increase in the number of new and altered environmental assets used for Seasonal Activities and Secret Missions (including smaller, non-combat areas such as the Fallen District, the return of the destroyed Farm and the Seasonal changes made to the HELM). - In addition to the above considerations are some things to ponder about each of the modes you’ve mentioned: • Each Strike has to be iterated numerous times to balance for the Vanguard playlist as well as the various Nightfall difficulties (to ensure score thresholds can be met without being too easy and that Champion placement and population present reasonable difficulty), which increases the workload needed to produce each Strike. • While the devs are generally laissez-faire about collision issues in PvE environments (usually only going back to fix clipping issues that allow for sizable Raid skips or invulnerable cheese sniping positions), they have to be much more meticulous in testing and fixing PvP maps to remove out-of-bounds exploits. The increase over time of new and faster ways for Guardians to get around the map has led to a great deal more work necessary to patch the holes present in the environmental collision for each PvP map. • While the devs once envisioned Gambit as being the third tentpole of Destiny 2’s core playlist, it currently lacks something Vanguard and Crucible both enjoy that increase player investment: a higher end difficulty option with different/improved rewards. Vanguard has Nightfalls, Crucible has Trials, Competitive and Iron Banner, and Gambit has… Just Gambit. And despite a number of reworks thus far, Gambit still has a number of issues in terms of match pacing and Invader/Defender balance the keep it from being as good as one might hope, further driving down player interest which in turn leads to less drive within the dev team to create new content for the mode.
