Whether we wanted it or not, we started playing destiny 2. Starting with spark of hope and going to grandmaster content or on our way there. And we have enjoyed the good times of this game and the bad times. But after 7 years of this game existing its at a major crossroads of fading into obscurity from its many cons or flourishing by eradicating those cons.
One day I started back up destiny 2 (not to long ago) and asked my friend to download it. Now everyone knows the usual outlook of outsiders of this game is "Destiny 2 is bad". At first when i started playing I just shrugged it off as sheep mentality. But after seeing the track record of this game, the many flaws that could have been fixed if it weren't for laziness, and the absurd prices and started to realize this game is bad. When my friend told me no, destiny 2 is bad I actually had no counter argument and grudgingly agreed. This game, as grand looking as it may seem, is a boat barely floating.
This games pros are as lists:
A great story. Each DLC has always brought a good injection of story lore and storytelling (except for beyond lights plot). This is probably its strongest pro. But I have to admit the story does have quite a few times where it just lazily puts a common plot trope in for the sake of it, which does hurt the story in the long run. (Looking at you beyond light, witch queen taken your powers and trick you into remembering her plan [Duplicate of the red war on the light powers part LMAO], and the classic revenge story of forsaken)
Second, a massive arsenal of diverse weapons and gear. This game is a looter shooter like borderlands, and subsequently gains all the benefits from that. This game has fantastic weapon designs, gunplay, and feel. just sheer perfection on that part.
Designs and art of the game are amazing. The supers, the weapons, the backgrounds, the areas you explore are great, beautiful and eye grabbing. the design team does a fantastic job.
Cool abilities to play around with that appeal to the hero shooter fantasy. This is a no brainer by far.
(Sorry if I didn't list all the pro's, if the comments point out some important ones I will edit them in later)
Cons:
To kick it off the worst offender: PVP, singhandedly the worst pvp lobby balancing, sandbox with constant ability spam and forced to use op weapons to even, terrible game mode of trials of osiris, unstable connection for many people, and plethora of OP exotics, abilites and etc across all classes. I don't think I have ever seen a worse PVP scene then Destiny 2's.
Light 3.0 pigeonholing: this is a very high example as before light 3.0 there was a diversity of builds to choose from that were strong, some stronger then others, great supers and abilites. Except for arc titan, hunter and warlock and some other exceptions. Void 3.0 hit the spot well, for warlock and titan that is. Hunter has now been relegated to invis spam which is very OP across the board. There is practically no diversity of builds on void hunter there is only INVIS. Solar is next and heavily mishandled solar warlock by deleting half of the fun and diverse things it had. Bottom tree, although needing a nerf, was wiped from existence and subsequently daybreak is now the worst PvE super in the game besides fists of havoc and base chaos reach.
part 2 of same con: Well is now the most OP thing of all, and like a lot of light 3.0 changes, the most used thing was buffed and all other builds were nerfed to make one build super op. this caused build diversity to lower as everyone in PVP and PVE are running OP stuff all the time. And if you don't run OP stuff in pvp its a loss for you as the meta is heavily tilted to one side. Solar warlock needs a complete rework to not be just top tree dawnblade and be a one trick pony. On to arc 3.0, this had come with the most benefits of buffing hunter arc heavily, and finally making arc titan useful outside of thundercrash. Although it was buffed accordingly, storm nades is incredibly OP in pvp with touch of thunder, juggernaut is a menace, and thunderclap in pve is just another super. Warlock was nerfed and pidgeonholed.
part 3 of same con: Storm trance was nerfed as transcendance is now gone, chaos reach is still terrible. Arc warlock is now completely inferior in PVE to every other warlock class and is now left with very few good builds (aka so good that running anything else is lose or not as efficient) like most light 3.0 classes. All we got was a slide in return, which is extremely busted and frustrating to play against. (did I mention stormtrance and chaos reach are absolutely not worth running in PvP compared to every other warlock classes supers? XD)
Rinse and repeat dlcs (except taken king, forsaken, and witch queen, which were great and broke this mold) at the cost of 260$ to get all DLC's that are a copy and paste of each other, not to mention forsaken story line now sunset. The only thing that is new and fresh among the DLC's is exotics (which some just make old ones worthless), story and stasis thats it. DLCS for years have been a major disappointment as they are just copy and paste.
Terrible RNG for raid exotics, raid weaponry, deepsight patterns, nightfall weapons below grandmaster. It can literally take someone 300 or more tries to get one raid exotic. Or more runs for a full deepsight pattern possibly. The RNG is inexcusable as even something like genshin impact has better odds and leniency.
Very Possibly the worst new player experience I have seen to date. No story for new players almost, a tenth of the games exotics accessible, most if not all content in game locked behind DLC's, no beginning story to fill you in unless you want to listen to days worth of lore videos. There is so much more I could pin here but I will just leave to fill in the rest.
The season grind is boring after a short while and is terrible by comparison. Season of the haunted, risen, and plunder were all terrible in this regard with awful deep sight rng, only 1 or 2 activities to replay for those weapons or worth replaying.
( Again, I will add more if comments list good points)
This game by far has too many cons to keep afloat for much longer unless lightfall changes a lot of this. Bungie needs to stop wasting time on eververse and immediately going to the next dlc to produce after releasing one and improve the now state of the game. We don't need more DLC's, we need current game improvement you greedy people. Stop producing and start improving, much better business.
Edit: Guys I woke up to see 50 notifications on my account, thanks for blowing this up!
EDIT: the only real way for Bungie to improve this is if we all stop paying for the content they make and quit the games and stop using what we want buffed. Changes don't come from words alone, something I should've have learned sooner. Only action makes changes.

You'll be joining the rest of the pat on the back destiny complainers. Some seem to make a hobby out of complaining on the forums. You are 100% correct that the only interest bungo will take is if you stop paying for it. Personally for the 80 odd a quid a year I can't find much better entertainment to play with my friends, we've been doing it for 8 years, long may it continue. If you don't enjoy just don't play it. Simple.
-
Nearly a million people showed up to play yesterday. Just because Bungie isn’t making the game you wish to play doesn’t mean that this is true for everyone else…or even most people who play it.
-
2 RespuestasShould've just made Destiny 3 and left Destiny 2 in the mud tbh
-
5 RespuestasGreat points. It's too bad Bungie will never see it, let alone do what's necessary to improve the game. The problem is Bungie.
-
1 RespuestaIf you honestly believe that destiny has a great story, then nobody should trust any of your opinions.

1 RespuestaMy man, please put more paragraphs

2 RespuestasYour last paragraph is truly the most important advice you can give. Players need to speak with their wallets nowadays if they want change to occur. Otherwise things will remain the same.

1 RespuestaEditado por Azrael-7: 1/19/2023 3:22:32 PMSo I've been beating this dead horse since D2 launched, but you brought up solar warlocks so I'll beat it one more time. Bungie should have reworked sunsinger, not removed it. In vanilla D1 every class had a distinct identity, that was represented well by there supers (hunters channeled their light through an item, Titans had explosive releases of light, and warlocks were conduits for their light). Definitely room for improvement, but I think it was good. When Bungie reworked the classes for D2 they did two things. #1. They -blam!- the class experience. If someone asked me what class they should play, I would tell them to pick which ever one they thought looked coolest, because genuinely that's the only difference in gameplay experience. They need to bring back distinct class identity (which I'll get to with sunsinger in a moment). #2. They simplified classes. This has been addressed with light 3.0 thankfully, but it has downstream effects on there way people played the game that I think are still relevant, and it's what contributed the most to that hemogenization of the classes that I mentioned. Which brings me to... Sunsinger: now, I was a sunsinger main in D1. Not the Res Singer though, the Song of flame was my game, and it never got the chance it deserved. It was Warlocks TRUE support support. Telling my whole fire team to spam abilities once it popped up was an unforgettable experience, and what's more is it was unique to every other super in the game. Hell it was unique to the other Sunsinger modifiers that substantially altered how you applied and interacted with your ult. And what did they replace it with? A knock of Hammer of Sol (which is mostly just a knock off Gunslinger). I still think Sunsinger should make a comeback, and Bungie should absolutely apply the new aspect and fragment system which is a GOOD system, just needs some work. The class/subclass diversity should be looked at. It's unfortunate that there's just no substantial difference, when there should be. It should be like an MMORPG where class MATTERS

1 Respuestaall the best content in D2 wasn't even made by Bungie

12 RespuestasEditado por xilxad: 1/18/2023 9:27:12 PMAwesome that you took your time to write this. I agree with all of it and thank you for trying to get through to bungie. I have canceled my preorder for next year and after many thousands of hours I will no longer support this game or bungie unless they make dramatic changes, the first being the price. They want money for dungeon keys but most people who pay will never see the exotics that come from them. Also the seasonal events are copy and paste and boring as hell. Not to mention that the playlists all need new maps drastically. I would rather get sick than do another strike/gambit match again, it’s that bad.

24 RespuestasEditado por TheShadow: 1/17/2023 3:07:08 PMLightfall isn't going to change a damn thing, the expansion is set in stone to be released as is, and this business is already working on future content making false promises on Reddit to the players that buy into their nonsense. You will literally have 99.99% of the same nonsense, content, process, progression, RNG, etc... in LF, that is 100% fact. It's why I will not waste my money on this expansion or any future content ever again, and that means their new IP as well seeing how they handled this game and knowing NetEase is on the board. I will not support this business anymore because they literally waste our money on BS, with their rinse-and-repeat process design choices, content, false promises, and the recent "we want feedback" (when literally nothing can be done until a year later after you paid for LF and all the seasons, and them already working on future content with nowhere near enough manpower working on D2. WOW! That's some balls there after all the BS they pulled.) (The game is bad because it was made to be bad by design choices.) This business knows what they are doing is wrong, but they continue to keep heading on the wrong path because most of You, Youtubers, Streamers, content creators, etc... literally have been giving them the okay to keep heading down the wrong path. Grant it, we all know this business is the problem, but all of you supporting them are just as at fault as they are because you continue to supporting their poor designed choices, throwing money at the screen, and some of you lying to yourself saying "it will be better this time, Bungie said so". Yet it's been the same BS for 6 years now with things only getting worse over time.

Editado por Ferus Lux: 1/19/2023 5:51:15 AMI'm confused. Do you like the storytelling or not? You say the game tells good stories...but then go on to trash every story point in the game except Shadowkeep which made me chuckle 🤣

2 RespuestasIt was heartbreaking to leave a game that meant so much to me & my clan. I haven't played in a while & i can see just how bad Destiny really is when you move onto another similar game and compare the pros and cons. Destiny is flawed from head to toe, there is no argument.

Not going to read all this, but either I'm happy for you or I'm sorry that happened.

6 RespuestasI never had any hope for D2 bro. As soon as it was announced, I and many others said it would be an Eververse Fest with cheap graphics, weapons, armour and locations. We were right. There have been improvements but the biggest mistake of all was Destiny 2.

9 RespuestasComparing this games weapon system to Borderlands is an insult to Borderlands. The two games couldnt be any different in that regard. Destinys archetype system makes every weapon feel the same, there is barely any individuality. Archetypes simply dont exist in Borderlands, and the guns have unique part combinations that make them standout from weapons even with the same name. Oh, and elemental effects actually matter in Borderlands....

11 RespuestasEditado por The Hermit IX: 1/17/2023 7:37:21 PMLol so much effort put into bashing a game. Just move on because it’s absurd to put that much effort into convincing others to not play something because you don’t. It comes across as if you’re unbalanced. These type of posts don’t change anything and are laughable at best.

Whilst I agree with most of your points in this post of yours, I gotta say that if you truly believe Density 2’s story is “good”, then I suggest playing other games with an actual good story. You’ll quickly see how wrong you are.

1 RespuestaDestiny's story is not great. Compared to games we got last year like Xenoblade Chronicles 3 and God of War Ragnarok, Destiny's storytelling just feels like the devs randomly picking a plot element they previously used and force it into this Avengers confrontation with the Witness. Except while the Avengers had history with the Infinity Stones that connected them, this just feels like a follower of the Witness decides to randomly pick a fight with someone from our past.

Those are chapters of the main story making a coherent storyline, not competing stories with no relation with each other. Doesn't help when they sell new chapter for $40
Second, a massive arsenal of diverse weapons and gear. 5 RespuestasYou lost me at hunter invis. Which unlike void barraicafes does not alter ttk in fights, and forgive me but you must be forgetting how strong devour is for warlock builds. Hunter invis has been nerfed several time now, from dodge recharge rate, to changing its core function, to taking no radar away, you have built a false image in your head about invis because you see more hunters due to population. It’s not even difficult to see, I’ve got clip after clip of doming them cross map right out of cloak. I could understand maybe if you went for the “in the right light” argument but it’s cloak. And not even a strong representation as far as visuals are concerned…….. believe me you wanna see cloak, look at defiance cloak from old gen in 2013….. far far stronger and harder to see, still could snipe it.
