Back in D1 we had a lot of different subgroups for each species. Now we have just one or two groups, their reasons being "They left" or "they formed a larger group". Not only that, but every boss was very unique, patrol ones too.
Just take a look at the D1 grimoire cards. Look at all the variety!!

Bungie needs to stop being lazy and work on two things: enemy variety, and a better job at introducing lore INTO the game, and not just lazily chunking it at us in text format. I want to see the story play out across NPC's, factions, etc. I want to see these character act out their roles. Less of these faceless holograms, recordings, and lore books, and more actual live story development, please. It's like Bungie wants this game to be an MMO only so far as it's the easiest, cheapest, grindiest bits of being an MMO, but they don't want to commit to it, because then that means they have to develop and actually integrate the story into the game, and not just fill it with lore books that only 1/16th of the player base actually reads, and random faceless communiques from various characters. It's only an MMO as far as what they can lazily glean from the MMO genre, but the moment you start actually trying to call it an MMO, they're like, NOPE! It's just a looter shooter! Seriously, Bungie, you've managed to bring us the worst of both worlds, and yet somehow, it's still the best offering to date. That's really saying something about the state of game development today.

Lore and game wise we basically killed most of those sub species and what enemies we have now are all thats left... Lol. We eradicated the Fallen in D1, now theyre our allies. we decimated the Cabal in D2 and are now our allies. Weve destroyed so many vex that theyre now converting and combining there sub types and will probably end up joining us too once we deal the final blow. I believe this is all so we can fight the darkness head on, together. Hell after witch queen maybe the hive will join us too. Then it would be all of us vs the Taken, the Veil, (think of the giant darkness being in the deep stone crypt raid) and the Worm Gods, in Lightfall, and we will probably have help from the Nine as well as Calus. We will need all the help we can get.

Nope “Bungie”

2 RespuestasReally glad to see someone else pick this up, I really enjoyed the different houses amongst the Fallen and different Legions in the Cabal etc. I wish it had more of a gameplay element but it was great from a lore standpoint. By having all the races in a single group, it kind of makes the enemies a bit bland. I will never forgive Bungie for writing the House of Kings out of the story, so much potential was there.
-
1 RespuestaThe little sub faction reskins were a nice touch, still a shame to see them gone for the most part in Destiny 2
-
The vex on mercury looked cool
-
1 RespuestaCareful what you wish for. Bungo will read this as 'players want to see different enemy dresses' and another avenue of EV laziness and greed will infect the game.
-
Yes we can, more enemy types will now spam teleport, not just taken thralls and fallen captains/ champions. This is to provide more challenging and dynamic encounters, not because it’s false difficulty….
-
Sure, they'll just have to delete an old enemy type to make space.
-
I would like to see new units added to the current factions like how we got Fallen brigs and Vex wyverns added in Beyond light(not counting the new lucent brood coming in Witch Queen as they are still just a knight, wizard, acolyte with different abilities). They should be added to all destinations and activities that has that particular faction in/on it too.

Hey Don’t diss the recoloured hive
-
What's wrong with going up against the Vex, Cabal, Fallen, Taken? Its been 8+ years 😂😂😂#Sarcasm
-
8 RespuestasI'd rather have each enemy faction use different combat tactics that suit their factions' style. Cabal: fights as a unit, shields interlocked with cabal firing from behind, warheads unleashed with scions flanking you. Fallen: hit'n run tactics using stealth and coordinating attacks to maximize damage and limit losses. Hive: unrelenting in aggression and will try to surround you. Forsaken: guerrilla warfare tactics with emphasis on ambushing. Taken: uses all tactics.

3 RespuestasIdk man , every time they bring new enemies they instantly become the worst enemy in game. I still hate the taken and scorn. They aren’t difficult just annoying
-
They are probably making new enemies for their newer games! They have to save some surprises since they're having a hard time being creative themselves. Afterall, this is the same company that said making content is difficult. 😂😂😂 A videogame maker that complains making videogame content is hard! 😂😂😂

1 RespuestaUltimately, the comments stating that enemy subfactions in D1 were nothing more than different color palettes are absolutely correct, gameplay wise. OP is also correct when saying it brought variety, lore wise. That’s a wasted opportunity on bungie’s part, but at least we have very strong and more complex narratives for the factions now, except for the Vex maybe
-
1 RespuestaYeah. It's one of the worst parts of this game. A brand new dungeon releases that we have to pay for, and the first boss is a regular Ogre in Sepiks Prime's area. Literally copy and pasted boss and boss area for paid content. Then the final boss of the brand new dungeon we had to pay for is just a regular Fallen Captain in a boring boss room that is worse than Thaviks boss room, and he's just a regular strike boss from year 1. If we don't see any new enemy type from the darkness like the Veil then this game will just end up as a massive disappointment.

4 RespuestasIt shocks me the Cabal are not in more factions. I was kind of expecting a lot more imperials to join the rest of the Red Legion and have like three factions -Imperials -Red Legion(but Bungie please have a leader that at least changes the name of the red legion because they’ve been getting old…) -Renegade Faction
-
1 RespuestaBungie: your wish is granted. Bungie: may we present the Unstoppable Overload champions with Barrier shield and immune phases. Every stomp unleashes 100 cursed thrall, screebs, and fanatics, enjoy.
-
7 RespuestasThere's plenty of variety. The issue is that all the factions have lost their uniqueness. They all fight the same, because they all have similar capabilities. now.
-
6 RespuestasA new faction is long overdue. Color reskins are not variation. The only new “faction” we had since the release of the game back in 2014 are the Taken which are not something new at all just all the other factions combined with some new abilities. They’re even killing the uniqueness of the other factions for me tbh. It’s been 8 years. We need something new. I hope at the end of the WQ raid and from the next expansion we get to see that.
-
Correct. Cabal need hats with big feathers. Dregs should wear bell bottoms. Hive should ride skate boards. Oh, did you mean something that’s actually new? No way, man. That costs money. Hey look, void 3.0 cheap stuff over there. Wow, so amazing!
-
I wish they spent more time with the combat complexity of the factions, and how they fight versus more enemies for right now. For example, if you’re fighting a Cabal Colossus it provides some sort of inspire or rally buff to all legionaries while it’s present in the battle. Shooting a Hive Ogre in the eye causes it to rampage. Idk. I think adding elements like that can help diversify combat more would be nice, and a welcome addition at least until we eventually get a true new enemy faction somewhere down the line (whoever controls the pyramid ships, Darkness etc.).
-
What variety? In d1 we had the same enemies as d2, except for the scorn. Or you mean the color palette swap? That's not variety!
-
1 RespuestaDo we need to throw more reskins on enemies though? Lore wise, it's actually understandable of why there's less enemy subtypes, especially in the Fallen, Cabal, and Hive's cases considering we've exterminated or brought their subfactions to near extinction among other forces. If we want to talk about enemy variety, then I would say more unique enemy units amongst the current roster would be better. Great (or not-so-great) examples of these from D1 to D2 are the War Beasts, Incendiors, Gladiators, Wyverns, Heavy Shanks, Taken Ogres, Champions, and soon to be the Lucent Brood. This could easily extend to bosses depending on if Bungie ever wants to do more with them on the creativity side.

5 RespuestasEditado por Necrogen: 2/11/2022 12:49:45 PMWe do have enemy variety... Are you blind? D2 has more enemy variety than D1. Our newest variety are wyverns. Before that were champions.
